not much info to go on, details on ski may help, still running a keihin?
will it rev up on the trailer?
if not check fuel filters
pull off fuel return line, send it to a jug and check fuel flow
probably have to rebuild the carb, use oem parts!
Brand new sbt motor 2 hrs on it, 38 dual kehin carbs, just gone through and cleaned, primer installed. R&D pipe. clear fuel lines and waterlines, everything is flowing fine. runs perfect on trailer!
a buddy of mine got a TS 640 from SBT and never could get it to run right
pulled the flywheel and the crank seal had been put in backwards
just saying, mistakes happen- may want to pressure check engine
does it run at all in the water? like for a few mintues then quits. or just wont rev at all?
it could be your high/low speed needles in the carbs. I have seen a carb that had a broke off needle that caused the ski to run on trailer but not in water.
Bring it to Hugenot and let me look at it. Join the stinky salty jetskiers group and meet up with us. We hit hugo and st augistine alot. (and then i wont be the only kawi rider)
i would start with the carbs. try playing with the jetting. start with the needles and see if you can make some progress either turning them in or out. if it gets better then you know which way you need to go on your jetting
Could also be a timing issue. Your best bet is to create a list and check everything.
Clean carb, especially the filter screen/basket internally. (already done)
Fuel lines (already done)
Pressure test engine. Make sure that the flywheel cover is off for this. It makes a difference. (should hold 8-10 psi for 10 minutes, under 8 is not acceptable)
Check that the woodruff key is intact and that flywheel has not shifted.
Make sure that the stator is secured properly.
Also check to see if an aftermarket timing advance plate is installed. If yes make sure it is properly installed.
Check the fuel pickups. On a oem kawi tank they can be easily cleaned.
Do you have a water box installed????
The elctrical systems on the 750's are not all the same. Yes they will all bolt up to each other, but different part #'s. The earlier sx models use a diferent stator. a possible issue to check on. I have only heard of this causing the engine to run hotter and loosen spark plugs. Probably not what is happening with yours.
what a waste of a thread, never overlook the little things, rookie mechanic. forgot i took the boots off and didnt push them down all the way when i put them back on. thanks for all the replys.
