300/440/550 94' 550sx Hull Integrity questions

Alright now that im going to be throwing my ski around the surf more often i am curious about my hull's integrity. I have those front braces and the Handle pole beef-Its but i am curious whether there are more spots that are prone to stress damage that i can prevent with some reinforcing. the hull is cherry so i dont want to do anything unless i really have to. And i also have the Handle Pole Extension Limiting Rope so that protects my nose from hyper extension i all ready destroyed my oldest brother's old 550's nose. i didnt have one back then but good thing he didnt know how to take care of it and seized so now its a pool toy.
Does anybody know where on the 94'550sx hull is specifically weak around ocean riding?
Thanks
-Mark

I know that they also crack along the side at the back of the hood.. right about where you have the black dot(bilige fitting?) on the side of your ski. They made a brace like the ones you have on the front sides below the frt of the hood. Only a bit bigger. I have seen tons on ebay in the past.. take a look on there I bet you could find some pretty cheap. Get you some of that carbon fiber cloth of there and put that inside the hull like they do on superjets.. you would be good to go then in my opinion.. You barrel roll or backflip it yet?

alright yeah i know what your talking about ive seen those but ill be going internal forsure. Uhhh haha im planning to roll it now that ill be riding every weekend at oceanside. Just need more practice and get comfortable with my ski i never was able to ride often enough to keep the skills with me they just brush off and come back rusy after a month or two. so well see there is no way i will even attempt to back flip my vintage bitch noooo way. lol i love my life and my ski

Get yourself some Carbon Kevlar Cloth, and a good epoxy resin.... lay maybe 2 layers, and you should be good to go...... I have had good luck with West systems epoxy, get the cloth off ebay.

there is no reason why you cant BF a 550 in the surf..... they are mad light, and short..... perfect for getting upside down! just not as stable when you land.....ride ride ride

alright yeah i dont know anything about it but ill be willing to give it a show with a buddy who knows. and very true the more i ride well see. but i just dont like the way i sit in my foot holds i couldnt put them any further up or else my leverage of the ski would make it to heavy to lift, making me have to have my arms extended almost all the way to have hold of the bars when both feet are in. however im 99percent sold on a DAKINE or however you spell it i havent seen one lately but one of those foot straps to put in front to toe my lead foot in i feel more comfortable that way anyways.
thanks though ill keep you updated if i ever decide to try it ha

btw. I reinforced my hull with 2 layers of mat/resin down the whole inside of the hull on each side & 2 layers of mat/resin - cloth/resin about 3-4" tall around the whole inside bottom lip of my hood.

lol its not but i can wip it around pretty good.
although the more i ride in the surf now the more ive been coming to realize that those footholds where ive put them for the leverage they have to provide, im simply not tall enough... every time i stick into both of them i my arms are almost fully extended while riding which doesnt help maneuvering or shifting weight around like that. so i think my hopefully temporary solution is to get a Dakine Toe strap up in front where i post my front riding foot so i can be toed in there and posted in my right foot hold which i use the most. it will be then when i can feel comfortable enough to start learning rolls.

I only used about $20 worth of resin & some biax that a friend had. Total cost probably around $50-75. Did the work myself with the aid of a friend. We only did two layers in strips about 3-4" tall, but biax is the ******** & is strong as hell.
