300/440/550 94 JS550SX Stock, issue with starting? replaced e-box, starter, solenoid?

Original E-box was saturated and corroded. Replaced with new. Ski started and worked great. Tuned the carb with flush kit in my driveway.

After a few starts you could tell that the starter was old and beginning to get weak progressively over time. The starter stopped working and was very weak. Replaced with a new SeaDoo 580 starter (which I have done in the past with other 550's). I also purchased a new solenoid just for the heck of it.

Replaced the Starter and go to press the START button and the result being nothing. It's like the ski is dead. Using a brand new battery. I arc the positive terminals on the E-Box with a screwdriver and the ski barely turns over?

All of my grounds have been checked. Everything is tight.

I then replaced the Solenoid, my thinking is that the solenoid in the new E-box went bad, so I replaced it with a new solenoid. Still the same issue. go to press the START button and the result is silence, nothing. I arced it again and the same darn thing! A barely weak turnover from the engine What is happening here? I am perplexed! Is my engine seized? I turn the shaft manually and the engine turned over fine?! At a lost here, please help community.:banghead::brap:

If you are familiar with a volt meter, I would test the voltage of the battery while cranking. It shouldn't be below 12v. I would also make sure that the same voltage reading is making it to the starter. try cranking with the plugs out of the engine.

Was the SeaDoo 580 starter used? How did you test it before installing it?
Its either a bad starter motor or a bad ground.
A bad starter may work fine on the bench but when its under load, it just doesn't have the power to turn the motor over.

The SeaDoo 580 starter is brand new... Going to try the ground wires next... Tested the starter at my buddies auto shop and it works great. Praying the new starter isn't whack. Might just order another new starter via SBT

Is it an OEM SeaDoo starter or a Chinese replacement? Most of the starters being sold on Ebay and even through SBT are all from China. If you do a search on this site, you will see all the issues people have had with them. Some starters last a week, some a year, and some never work right out of the box.
If you want to rule out a bad ground before buying another starter, you can use jumper cables from your negative battery lead right to the engine or back of the starter to be sure your ground is good.
