If it's cracked all the way through, carefully grind the crack and glass over it.
Factory b pipe recommends 1.5 needle and seat with a 95 gram spring.... For a single 44 @capitalcrew

My boat wouldn't run that way. Both my blaster and superjet. I've read other threads where everyone recommends a 65g with a 1.5. A 95 with a 1.5 is over 30 psi. It's too much.

Op, best to just replace it. By the time you buy resin and glass and then put the time into doing it you're already in it for 20 or 30 bucks plus time and then it might crack again. Aftermarket is much more reliable.

Not everyone recommends a 65 g. Im running a 95 gram courtesy of JetManiac and factory pipe, with a stock flame arrestor with one screen.
Different flame arrestors will require a different popoff as well.
But mine with fp recommended jets and spring absolutely rips.

Op, if you're worried about it cracking through, just drill a hole at the end of each crack and glass over it and you shouldnt have to worry about it at all.. A layer of some biax and then some cloth would make it bulletproof. My Waterbox had quite the rub hole through it and with a little bit of glass and a little time it was better than new!
I guess me and capital have a much different way of looking at things. I just don't like throwing parts at things that aren't necessities. Oem smc material Waterbox going on 20 years in my superjet and it's still kicking and making great power..
Idk how easy it is to access a blaster Waterbox, but if it is, I'd pull it out and get some epoxy resin and have some fun!

The waterbox is easy to access, and a repair is easy enough. But can you guys link me to aftermarket waterboxes? I'd love to find one of those Factory Pipe boxes but obviously they don't make them anymore.

I don't think it's too big of a deal at the moment though. I'm not jumping any huge waves, although I'm going out again today with a small craft advisory ;)

Well I ran it again today and the issue returned. Fiddling with the tether / stop switch got me going again but only in spurts. I was almost full speed when it cut once and nearly went over the handle bars, lol. I just don't understand because it ran so well last Wednesday. I'll try replacing the stop switch. At least it would get going again and I wasn't stranded this time.

In what world is replacing a busted oem waterbox with a much much sturdier aftermarket one "throwing parts" at something? Get real dude. That's like putting a plug in a bald tire with a nail in it. Replace it and be done with it.

Sounds like you're on the right track op. Get your start stop stuff from @JetManiac if you want a good deal and reliable parts.

My 2cents here again but I had similar problem after reading more. I guess after 16 years of wrenching on a 701 you learn a few things. I installed an inline fuel filter in place of the stock one. The filter got dirty and fed motor with enough fuel until I opened it up to feed main jet. Motor shut off like someone hit the kill switch. A single 44 is easy to work on, check fuel passageways, bucket filter inside carb. From what I keep reading about stock water boxes I would want to keep it. AM boxes just don't compare as a stock box for performance.

Interesting, so why so much talk about only gain is with a stock box or installing a Raider box? First thread I've read saying AM boxes are better than stock?

Where did I say AM performed better? My race boat has a 760 box. I've run both stock and aftermarket boxes as well as a gp760 rear set up. The difference isn't noticeable. This guy is running a totally stock blaster and chasing barges. If you think he's going to notice the 30 rpm he might lose you're kidding yourself.

Just get an aluminum box and never worry about it breaking again. Or go through all of the trouble of putting a 760 box in the back.

When he makes a thread about building a race boat we'll start worrying about performance over reliability.

The stock one is clear and has no debris or dirt in it. I don't know how putting a different filter on there would change anything unless you're suggesting moving the filter to a different location than stock?

Passageways & bucket filter should be clear since that was checked when the carb was rebuilt.

As for the box, it's not even leaking yet and from pictures I took when I bought it, it's had these small cracks in it the whole time and I just noticed them. And I haven't been able to to find a new aftermarket boxes anywhere so I'll probably just repair this one. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place?

Was just giving an example of a restricted fuel line, doesn't mean replace anything just be looking for a fuel flow issue. Never mind the water box thing I was just making a comment on replacing stock box. I'm here to gather info as we all are, sharing ideas is what its all about as I'm discovering things as I post.

If I ignored all of the troubleshooting you've done and only knew the symptoms I would immediately be pulling the carb off and looking through it all again. Check everything. I had a blaster do the same thing and it was a little piece of debris making its way into the jet and shutting the fuel off.

And for future reference, you will not find many new parts for this boat. Get used to buying used parts. There's lots of clean stuff for sale here

Yeah seems like it. I probably won't be able to wrench on it for a few weeks though since I'm closing on my house & moving in soon.

And I've found some new-old stock items on eBay, but not many.

Can anyone confirm that the start / stop switch is the same thing for almost all Yamahas? There appear to be several part numbers but they all look the same except for maybe cord length.

Had some time today to work on it. I checked the whole fuel system EXCEPT for the jets. I had the carb off too to check the little filter inside of it... can't believe I forgot about the jets. Well, everything else is fine fuel wise at least.

BTW, I worked on it in the water at the marina today... not recommended, lol.

Working in the water is tough if there are other boats around for sure man. It's best to pull it up on shore lol
