Seems priced right for being in Cali. If you could get it under 2k it would be a great deal. Make sure and check compression before you buy. Also wont hurt to do some preventive maintance;
Check/replace all the fuel and water lines
Check the torque on all of the bolts
Make sure the Ebox doesn't have moisture in it. (Open the fuse holder)
etc
etc

Did you check compression before u bought it? Always do that before buying any ski. They can still run good on a trailer but have low compression and be gutless on the water or be ready to blow up at any moment.
Hope all is well, and have fun with the blaster!
I always do the side mount in deep water on the B1's. Grab bars and gas it and pull yourself up and on.

The side mount is difficult at first but just keep practicing until you get it. If you can't get it you want to balance your way up the back and as soon as you can grab the throttle gas it and pull yourself up.

Ok so Blaster update!

I took the blaster out on veterans day. It was about 65 degrees, foggy and dead calm. I hopped on, started her up and idled out to the buoys no problem. It would not take off though, it was running like the choke was on! Full throttle would kill it and half throttle wouldn't even get me on plane. Back on shore I open the hood to find out that the choke cable is wrapped around part of the carb and holding the choke partially on. After I fixed that it was rideable, but probably down about 50% on power. I could go probably go 30 mph and take a half decent turn but that was it. Luckily I didnt fall, there was no way a sidemount was happening with it running like that....

Overall, I am still very impressed at how well the blaster turns. It just begs you lean it over and give it gas!

I checked the compression and it was 150F/75R.... Which is what I was expecting after seeing how much exhaust was coming out of the pisser, I was pretty sure the head gasket was toast. I ordered a head gasket off ebay and went to pull the head....a 10 min job on any of my kawasakis. But no....that stupid riva red pipe.....

Long story short, the engine is on my work bench all cleaned up and ready for a new head gasket (I ordered a 61x gasket but it didn't match the old one, so I now have a 62t one in the mail). I'm going to clean out the inside of the hull and put it back together and see what happens!

Post a picture of the rear bore, might be more than just a head gasket.

If the engine is on the bench, why not take this opportunity to pull the cylinder off, check the bore and pistons, add new rings and wrist pin bearings? Also, check the front and rear crank seals for leaking oil. Cheap insurance...

probably seized. i'd bet money on it. if the old head gasket doesnt have a clear mark where its leaking and carbon marks on the head, there was nothing wrong with the gasket and these things arent like cars , they dont just pop head gaskets. you said smoke was coming out the pisser which is normal when its not in the water. blown head gasket will have water/compression coming out the pisser when riding/ no steady stream of water. 75 psi means its not completely grenaded. could probably slip the cylinder off, unstick the ring, sand piston, throw it back together and never have another problem. i also never buy anything without my trusty snapon comp tester in hand. price goes way down with comp.

It was shooting exhaust out of the pisser when it was in the water! The head gasket was bad for sure, the metal ring was cracked and the gasket material behind the crack was all black and burned. The bore looks like its in great shape from a visual inspection. I know I should do all new seals, but i don't really have the time right now.... I should probably do a leak down on it though...

No I didn't check before I bought it, because I already knew it didn't run right....its rare that someone buys a ski in spring, rides it 5 times then decides to sell it in the fall. That and the owner said "needs the carbs cleaned" craigslist speak for "engine needs a rebuild but starts up on land". I figured that worst case I'm out 500 bucks on a rebuild, I took the gamble....

IMG_20141122_155055800_HDR.jpg Ya, I know I should.....but I really want to ride on wednesday...

Between the cylinders in the cooling jacket, a little curved metal piece was screwed in. Do I need this? It fell out and I can't find it

Oh, and here is the blaster cleaned up a little bit. Buffed out a few scratches, pulled off a few stickers and gave it a wipe down with simple green

If it is the piece I'm thinking about, it is an anode to help prevent corrosion in the motor. It is not needed to run,but highly recommended to keep in there. I would try to find it just to make sure it is not in the crankcase or cylinder where it could come loose while running and cause a lot more damage than a simple rebuild could fix.

Wow that is really cool, yamaha sure put a lot more into their motors than kawasaki did - at least as far as the two cylinder two smokes go

The motor is back together. Compression is 150/150 like it should be and it starts up almost instantly every time. I was able to get out to the lake today - that thing screams! I've ridden a lot of kawasaki 650's and figured another 50cc's wouldn't be a huge difference.....wow was I wrong. I can't wait to ride some more tomorrow
