97 kawasaki 750sxi pump rattling!!!!!!HELP

my cousin bought a Yamaha superjet and I started it today and noticed that all I heard was engine, heard no rattling but on my Kawasaki 750, when you start it you hear a lot of rattling coming from the pump. Didn't know if it was a kawi thing or if I need to rebuild the pump?

Kawis are notorious for that pump rattle in my experience.

What's the cause of the rattle though? I've heard somewhere that it is a worn pump shaft, although im not sure.

on a kawi, the drive shaft slides into the prop and fits kind of loose. thats the rattle you hear. yamaha has a long shaft from the pump and ends just behind the motor and they rattle less

totally normal, mine makes a ton of racket on the trailer, put it in the water and silent

The 650 my friend has rattles like there's no tomorrow!! However, there's zero play in the pump shaft bearings and the clearance between the impeller and wear ring is normal, so it's all good man!!

The pump rattle is normal. Ensuring the nose rubber is in good shape will reduce it some, but they just rattle.
