98 701 how can you tell if it's an x or t?

I have a 98 superjet and am having to do a top end rebuild. How can I tell if my motor is an x or t so I get the correct kit?

It's casted into the cylinder, If it's all stock, it's a 61x cylinder

I thought those were 61XL but now I see the 61X stamped there.

its a short block, without the jugs and head, can i use eather if i match the intake exhaust, piston, head, combo?

"Short block" typically includes the cylinder.

Yes, you can use either 61X or 62T cylinders. You can also use 6M6 and 64X while you're at it.

As long as it has the original cases they are 62T. If the motor came from a 2000 SJ it would have 61x cylinders. If it came from a couch it probably has 62T cylinders.... not as good for bottom end power.

But it sounds like your looking at buying a complete bottom end, a shortblock would include cylinders, pistons, and head. (complete top end).

yeah sorry, its a bottom end ,supposed to be from a sj . the one from nykid
