"Short block" typically includes the cylinder.

Yes, you can use either 61X or 62T cylinders. You can also use 6M6 and 64X while you're at it.

As long as it has the original cases they are 62T. If the motor came from a 2000 SJ it would have 61x cylinders. If it came from a couch it probably has 62T cylinders.... not as good for bottom end power.

But it sounds like your looking at buying a complete bottom end, a shortblock would include cylinders, pistons, and head. (complete top end).
