Super Jet AC handle pole sits crooked

I installed the AC Racing handle pole on my square nose and it sits slightly crooked to the right when you're on the ski. This causes it to hit and rub the inner side of the hood when the pole is lowered. The OEM pole I had on the ski didn't do this and the bracket seems solid and in place. Brand new bushings In the pole and it has no play. Is there anything I can try to line it up? My current solution is to mount a block of foam on the hood to stop the pole from dropping all the way in when lowered, therefore eliminating the rubbing. There's really not room to add a washer on the one side of the bolt to push it over a bit, so not sure what else to try. I also emailed AC Racing, who's always awesome to work with, so maybe they'll have some ideas.

Attached are the pics showing the clearance on each side of the hood where the pole drops into. There's no clearance on one side and about 3/4" on the other.

If you loosen the mounting bolts on the actual pole mount it might have enough play there to center the pole. If not, then you can enlarge those holes a little bit to give you some adjustment.

I remember years ago they had a bad run of poles because they had them jigged wrong. I was the unlucky recipient of one of these poles. I actually had to slot the mounting holes in my SJ hull to get it to sit straight. Not too pleased with that.

Wasn't a bad run. They were all this way. I bought a pole new in 2001 and it was these same. i removed the pole bracket, and slotted the holes to "Kick" the pole over to make it more centered.

Ahhhh. I must've gotten some bad info when I posted my issue on ......gulp.....PWCToday a million years ago and LisaLisa from HT chimed in.

Ages ago I sold a ac pole to some idiot in canada that said it didn't fit because it rubbed the hood. Ebay allowed him to return it. In his negative feedback I said loosen the crown stupid. Ebay has some idiots in the resolution dept. A tiny shift at the crown is a lot by the back

Hey all, thanks for the replies. I loosened the bolts on the bracket and found that I had to drill out the holes on one side a bit to get it to shift enough. The bracket looks a bit crooked now, but the pole is lined up nice and straight now and sits into the hood. For safe measure, I added a small strip of turf for it to rest into near the back of the hood in front of the OEM black rubber hood stop/bumper.

Thx for the comps on the blue! It came painted that way when I got it a decade ago. Then my kid snapped the pole off last summer hence this new one. Was never gonna match that blue so had the AC pole powder coated orange as an accent.

Cheers!

A bit more info on this pole. I had a bit of a time putting the chin pad back on of all things. When you tighten down on the two machine screws that hold it into place, it wanted to over tighten the chin pad, causing it to buckle a bit and sit too far forward. My solution was to add some spacers on the bracket, but then this made the chin pad sit too far back and the steering hit it. With a bit of grinding and adjusting, it now has clearance and sits fairly flush. Wanted to share this detail for others who may experience similar issues.

Ah yes, the joys of installing aftermarket parts where there has been about zero quality control.
