ok i m the only one sorry.

I wasn't implying that. I've heard about them wearing out before. With the crazy amount of hours you're putting on your motor, it should be no surprise that you're having trouble with the head.
Just saying that someone with more moderate use (me) should get a decent amount of use out of the ADA head.

I thought I rode a lot... I base all my fuel usage on oil usage so I typically burn about 75-125 gallons in a season and I typically ride from mid Feb to early Dec. From May to Sep, I can burn 7-10 gallons in a really good weekend but in the colder months of wetsuits, I'll burn like 5 gallons every 2-3 weeks. To ride almost 4 times that in a state that has frozen lakes a good chunk of the year is mind blowing... If you ride 8 months of the year, you're burning almost 15 gallons a week for 8 months solid. Really???

Once the waves come he rides two tanks a day.... pretty good for an old guy lol..... I'm worn out after a tank.

It also takes us 7 gallons to ride a "tank" since we bring two gallons in the tray to reach the surf.

That's no BS with him going through head shells either. He usually has one crack every other season. That soft billet aluminum wears out fast when you put a lot of hours on.

We ride from april to october.

Sounds like I can expect about 6-9 years out of my ADA head then. Thanks for clearing that up!

Since you guys have such good luck with the ADA head, I'll sell you a cheap used one that I wasnt going to sell originally because of this problem. Shoot me an offer.

Has anyone mentioned the need to periodically retorque the head/girdle bolts to prevent this from happening in the first place?

Why would I need another one? :dunno:
Mine's working fine.

Chris has a very good point about re-torquing.

I added some 0.004" stainless shims today where the domes sit. We'll see in about a week if that made any difference at all. It worked for today but I didn't ride very long.

Thought I'd post my results so far. It's been a month so far and I haven't blown an o-ring since putting those shims in place. Spent $2, saved $300-$400 on a new head. I can live with that.

Good for you for fixing the problem.
