So in one of my engines i had a PHP 4mm light weight crank.
I had the crank out after 5 hours ride time, since new and had at 2/10 of an mm (Yamaha OEM spec is 0.5/10)
My buddy @stefan brought a brand new ADR 10mm crank over to show the nice run out.

Im pretty impressed with the ADR crank, and less impressed with the PHP crank to be honest.
Thoughts ? :)

I also did a messaruing on the same spot on the PHP crank (tip of taper, flywheel side) Same result. I was expecting a bit more from a PHP crank. 4 times the runout of OEM yamaha spec. Not good enough if you ask me. Not a cheap crank.

Oh yeah, also a bit surprised that the PHP uses WSM connection rods :)
Not exactly what i would expect from a high dollar light weight crank :)

2004 I hydrolocked my motor and bend a rod. Picked up a Trued and Welded WSM Crank from one of my sponsors. Honestly, This crank held up great until about 2007/2008. 2004-2006 I was racing and competing. Riding a whole lot. When it let go, it was a bearing that failed. No Issues with the crank itself........ Now, My ADR? Less than 10 hours and the rear bearing failed.

That said, I not to worried about those rods. More worried about why some much distortion in the crank.

WSM are good rods, i seen a TPE 900 stripped at Loki customs after 18 months of Ant burgess using the ski for shows and the rods are still like new, the motor had been filled on a few occasions to. It was the crank bearings that where starting to go so it was stripped before it failed....that was a ADR 4mil crank.

I didn't say they were poop. Just i didn't expect a 69usd con rod kit on a crank to 1000usd+
ADR crank is what 200-300 usd dollar cheaper than the PHP, so that makes more sense they would use WSM rods.
I think the price of an crank would somehow reflect what parts they use. or maybe its just me :)

And again, a lot of people based SBT cranks, but why. they are suuuuper good priced. I ran one in a DASA 850 billet PV engine, with all the goodies for 2 or 3 seasons. no issues

No really comparing apples to apples here . New crank vs used crank?

Why was it pulled after only 5hrs run time ?

I called adr and talked to Aaron I believe. It’s been aFew years now since I baught that adr 10 mil crank. He puts a lot of pride in his product to keep his quality level at the tip top of the competition. Thanks for sharing specs

yeah, well i did not. it was run in for first hour, then 4 rides ridetime, no hydrolocking.
AND to add, that the best spec it could be trued to, was 0.05mm (wich is factory spec MAX)
I hve no ties with any brands, but think that there is to many people keeping information like this to them self or "hidden". While praising a product.
For example i dont get why PHP dosent advertise their crank with WSM rods. whie a lot of people are interested if cranks in general are with japanese or chinese bearrings.

Thats the best the PHP could be trued to, and Bo has done cranks lin 10-15 years. he can make them 100% straight, if its a good crank.

I will messuage the ADR crank when it has some hours on it, to see if it makes any difference ;)

It has to do with kook-aid. Sometimes people don’t want or can’t handle the truth. Careful, it’s peoples lively hood at times. Look at the swamp getting drained for example. It gets messy. You posting this at least makes people aware of things before mixing up the koolaid packs

In the OP, the second video (20sec video), what is the translation of the first word said. I've listened to it 7 times and can't decide if it was a stutter or a long freaking word.

Either way

Thanks for sharing

Its my good buddy @stefan 's ADR crank, and also him talking:
Stefan: Thats eerrrhh - i can live with it :) (the true of the crank)
me: Keep rotating the crank:
Stefan: Im trying to give it some more "gas"
Stefan: and now 10.000 rpm.

Good question

The engine was taking apart to swap crank cases, to test a case modification.
