Super Jet Advice needed - SN upgrade to 760

Hey guys I have a 650 square nose and I want to upgrade my engine. I've found a wave raider 760 (rebuilt and bored out) running great for $900. The problem is my wife doesn't want me to spend the $$$. Would I make enough off of selling my 650 engine and parting out the rest of the wave raider to make my money back? Is this a good deal?
Thanks for the advice

Put your 650 wave raider and then sell it. play dumb, Say i bought it for my wife she doesn't want it so I'm selling it this is the way it was when I got it

Ya so the guy isn't sure what size engine is in it. Waiting to hear back if its a 701 or 760.
If i do get it I'll just part it out, I don't like getting burned and I try not to burn other people.

Turns out the engine was a 701. Going to wait for something closer or cheaper. I assumed all the wave raiders were 760's, I'm glad I checked before I left.

Go after the 701 Waveraider, there are more parts and options available for it then the 760. Plus dropping your 650 into it will make it a decent ski for someone else.

elaborate please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 760 cases are 62t
the cylinders are 62t
the bore is larger ( 760) bigger sleeves

the 701 comes in a 62t cases, cyl, smaller sleeves

other than the pistons and the electronics where id the big difference in parts availability?

SCAMMISH
The 650 in the waveraider is ok, so long as you admit the engine has been "changed" :)
the 650 in the raider will be a dog and it will not pull a stock raider prop, on top of this it will not hook up to the cables unless its the bastard model that came with a 61X , that particular ski was only made for one year .

refer to above, except for the one bastard year ski all 701 waveraiders came with 62t engines.

Ok so to clarify I'm not going to put my 650 in the wave raider. If I buy it I'll part it out and sell my engine separately.
#1 Is this still a good deal (701) for $900? Basically I'm cheap, will I make my money back?
#2 should I wait for another 760? Or will the jump in power from the 650 to the 701 be enough?

in the long run displacement is displacement, stock for stock 760 is more power. with any modifications done properly either one will be a substancial improvement.

alot of people prefer the 701 61x to the 701/760 62t, lower ex. port timing.

Then again, the 64x 760 port timing is even higher than 62t 701 port timing, according to some threads I read. Maybe he is better to snap up the 62t 701 and give it a try.

Do you want to go fast or try some freestyle stuff? All engines are much better than the 650 for power.

I went for it! $900 for the 701 Wave Raider, great shape. I've taken it out twice now and it runs great. Now I've got to work on parting it out and putting the 701 in my superjet. I'll be posting in the classifieds soon if anyone needs parts.

I would say you have a good baseline there, now if you really want it to scream get a 61X cylinder and bolt on it and you have a Superjet motor.

I notice alot of people are looking to keep their raiders going and will buy the parts. I sold alot of parts off an 1100 waveraider I had during the summer. Its just wintertime right now so I dont think the frenzy for parts is going on right now locally. I think you could get your money back selling or parting the 650 and parting the waveraider.
