Advice on stopping water ingestion with a XFS

Recently picked up one of the nastiest skis I've ever had the pleasure of riding. Have one issue tho. New to flipping and of course with flipping comes many many flops.

Seems that the engine defiantly is taking in some water. I have tried blowision "rain coats" to try and prevent this with not much luck. If the ski is upside down I do try my best to flip it clock wise if I was at the jet end of the ski.

Many people have mentioned to make some kind of water protection out of turf or something and just want to get some ideas from you guys as to what to make.

Just want to protect my investment until I can nail them plate to plate more then once every 100 times

Try this: Remove your flame arrestors, take a sheet of hydroturf and place it over the carbs, cut out the holes. Install flame arrestors. If you can have the sheet but up against the motor and move down the side and aft bulkhead that will prevent a lot of splash going into the carbs.

Are yo using the rickter scupper? If so going to a thrust ball scupper will help keep the hull dryer. Even with a new flap my rickter scupper always seams to let 1 or 2 cm in the bottom of the hull at all times

I will defiantly try some turf around the flame arrestors. Still using rrp scupper. I'll be putting in a versi plug this winter infrlnt of the scupper. I notice water in there also. Much more then my trixstar. I always do a good circle before going for another flip to try and clear out as much water as possible

701 industries surf air boxes is what I ended up with. They are bullet proof ....had to take off the inner dirt screens for my TPE 1105 to increase airflow, but the design is similar to stock single intakes...with key improvements

Did u make sure your hood is sealed properly? Lay a dollar bill across your hood seal, latch your hood down over it, attempt to pull the dollar out. Do this test on every side of your hood seal in multiple areas. If the dollar pulls easy, adjust your hood prongs.

Prongs may come loose after a few head flops, just recheck if u hit hard.

Also, rickter scuppers work well for me, not when the ski is upside down tho

Dollar bill? Never heard of her haha

I will defiantly try that. Hood latches down tight with the hood latch but I'll confirm with the bill trick.

I used the billet Wammer flame arresters with my 1105 when learning flips. Helped alot. No longer need them so selling for $150

Hmmm. I just can't see them flowing enough air... I bet they help a lot with stopping the water tho.

Even nosing in when flipping the motor snuffs out quick. Within seconds of nosing in if I'm not hard on the throttle it snuffs right out. What a pain!

Switching back and forth between them in back to back test I haven't noticed a difference. They are bulky for carb adjustments. Only reason I'm selling, just don't need anymore and prox are easyier to work around.

I took the 701 IND screens out and reamed out the opening on the inner inlet side to get more air in......1105 TPE with PFPpipe.....runs like a r*ped ape.....no sign of water ever since.

How do you like them?
On big flips I had a problem, oftentimes while flipping large the engine bay water would travel into the OEM snorkel and while I land, the ski would die out due to water intake...

I would be more worried with not flowing enough air to your carbs, with those raincoats - than a stock flame arrestors with single screen.
I had the hydroturf cover in my setup for a period. I dont think you will completely keep water ingest out, if your doing freestyle. Unless you are absolutely doing every trick perfect and you hull is 100% sealed and not letting any water in.
