There sounds like i have an air leak somewhere around my intake manifold on my blaster. I only hear it when i give it gas though. any thoughts. i would think if there was a leak the engine would race, i just dont want to sieze a piston from a lean mixture:feedback:

i hear a sound like air being sucked in only when i give it gas. my buddy thinks its just air coming in through the k&n air filter. the performance has been sweet, full power through the rep range and great throttle response. like i said it just worries me that i could be running too lean.

You could spray some water or carb cleaner on the gasket areas as you blip the throttle.

The moisture should muffle the air leak if only for a split second.
Or....you are just hearing the airflow into the carbs.

Dumb question - do you hear the noise when the hood is on or off? I've heard the hood make a sucking sound when it was on.

Otherwise, I agree I've never heard an intake make a sound. Does it want to keep reving when you jump it out of the water and let off of the gas?

it s more noticable when the hoods up, but shes not continuing to rev while air born. i think ill spray around the intake to see to double check. maybe i m just being crazy wouldnt be the first time.:clown:

the carbs should make a sound like air being sucked in when you blip the throttle.. that is not out of the ordinary depending on your air filter setup.. some are noisier than others, specially the 'conical' filters.

i dont want to say not to worry about a possible air leak, ive just never actually heard one myself.

when I switched to a KN filter in my xterra it started making that sound......i dont thinmk you could hear an air leak :dunno:

Spray some WD40 or something else flammable around the intake, if it gets sucked in it will make your engine run differently (it'll rev up or die). I can't believe it would ide with an air leak as bad as you are describing.
