As the year keeps on flying by, we find ourselves just two and a half weeks out from something we planned in January! Crazy. But this will be a quick rundown of what's going on, and when. We don't have much planned, and keeping it a ride around fun, riding, and partying for a good cause! This weekend is going to be about hanging out with friends, meeting new ones, and remembering ones who have left us.
Rules/Guidelines:
When you check in, tell them you are there for the Southern Fried Freeride and we will have the ladies in the office hand out a paper of some general rules, most of us should already know but we think it will be a good gesture with the venue to show some initiative about controlling ourselves. A quick rundown..... Everyone knows the rules on the water, and if you don't follow them, expect DNR to give you a ticket. We don't have a free pass from the law. The campground has allowed us to pull skis on the beach for the weekend, as well as keeping them on the shoreline by your campsites. In the past they have been a little picky about coming in and out to fast to close to shore, so keep it respectful coming in and going out. Clean up after yourselves, we want to leave a good impression and be welcomed back, don't leave beer/soda cans laying around ect. The campground usually has a quiet time around 10pm, but in the past, usually lets everything go later if no complaints are being called in. They are very easy to deal with when it comes to this, and realize everyone is there to have a good time. They are picky about the number of cars allowed per site, which is two and its more of a fire marshal thing vs the campground. Ski trailers must be parked in trailer parking, and will not be allowed in the campsites. People is limited to 6 per site, but they have not minded in the past if they don't have any issues out of any particular site. These are just a few of the things we have gathered from personal experience camping here with a group......
Organized:
Saturday:
Like I said earlier, we are keeping this part to a minimum. Everyone ride have a good time, and we don't want to be bound to a schedule. The only things we would like to do would be a group dinner at 5pm Saturday evening. Everyone bring something and enough for your own crew, it is not a show up and eat everyone's food for free and walk away. Using this as a way of getting everyone together, talk among ourselves, ect.... Jesse's parents will be there as well, and this will be a good opportunity for anyone to say kind words, tell old bench racing stories, and remember a fellow rider. I will more than likely start a thread just for the dinner, so we can post about who will be bringing what so everyone doesn't show up a big plate of mac and cheese. Look for that.
Sunday:
I know some people have to dart out early and some will hang around and ride, but everyone needs to drag their lazy/hungover self out for a group photo. We will be doing a laying of the wreath in Jesse's honor, and having a group prayer, as well as handing over all the proceeds we raised for the weekend to Jesse's parents at this time. This will be at 830am.
Raising Funds:
There will be a donation jug located under my EZ up at site p23. You are welcome to put cash in there as you please, and know its going to a good cause.
T shirts are for sale at the event and are available at my site, p23. Ten bucks from each shirt will go directly into the donation fund. Some have preordered, just come pick them up from my site. I basically doubled the order from presales so I will have some extras for sale. But once they are gone, they are gone.
I will be bringing a nice old fashioned keg of beer. I purchased it, and will be my donation for the nights! Everyone is welcome to it, but please make a donation to the jug, then get a cup for the night and drink for good reason, once its gone its gone!!!
Shenanagins:
Beer pong competition brought to you by the Georgia Jet Pirates!!! Setting up a sign up list Saturday and have it go down Saturday night once the sun sets, so kick it off around 800PM. Please have your team signed up by 7pm Saturday! We will make the elimination brackets once I figure out how many teams we have signed up. The winners will receive beer pong champs SFF 2014, a undisclosed prize, and a sweet ass picture on the X!!
Cornhole boards will be set up down at one of our campsites at the end of the peninsula, anyone is welcome to jump on them and play, but please be respectful of them, as I do not want to have to take them home in pieces!!
My camper has speakers and spot lights on it and we usually keep going as long as we can, so if you want to come by for some brews and good times, please do!!!
If anyone else has any ideas, suggestions, comments, please let me or x2ufoolz know!! See everyone in 17 days!!!
