Alternative Bilge location

Hi guys,

Looking at mounting a rule 500 in my SJ. Gonna epoxy the base down. I had the ebox out last night and looked at mounting it near the drive shaft, however could not get it fitted on the flat surface due to the 2 pipes running along by the stock syphon.

Has anyone mounted it between the engine and fuel tank? Seems an easy place and I figure its still gonna pump from there if I start taking on water.

If you mount up by the tank, it really will not pump any water out unless you are sitting still. I see them ounted up there all the time, but IMO it is wrong...

Think about it, when you are riding, your nose is up, and any water you would have in your engine compartment would be at the very back, near the drive shaft.

I mount them in the back all the time. It is tight, but the RULE pumps will fit. I us a bracket, instead of gluing the basket down;

The bracket is the best way to go.

Thanks guys, decided to take your advice and have another go. Got it placed on the opposite side of the shaft from the stock siphon. Here are a couple of pics for anyone interested, showing the pump, switch and outlet locations.
