Blaster Aluminum Shoe

I just bought an aluminum shoe and was curious if you guys have had to grind the show down so its flush with the bottom of the hull? I've been doing some searching online and haven't really come up with much. I'm a little worried. The Blowsion shoe I bought sticks out from the bottom of the hull quite a bit. About 1/4"

I know I need to grind a little bit off each side where the forward part of the shoe sticks out. Right in the bend that contacts the gel. It keeps the shoe from being completely flush against the back of the cavity where the 4 screws hold it in.

I'm ready to glue it in and would rather have a few of you experienced guys school me.

Thanks. I f'n can't wait for this Summer!

I've just about finished the shoe fit prep. I need to drill some holes to mount the shoe and then after that is done, provided they all align and I don't have to fill holes and wait for resin to cure and redrill I'll be gluing my new alum shoe in. I figure I can use my small belt sander to sand it down. Figure I'll get it mounted with the four screws and then see if I feel comfortable with only the screws holding the shoe while I grind.

I have quick cure 5200. The other thing running through my head is I can sink the screws with some let it cure and then grind another day, and still be able to remove the shoe assuming it allows me to remove the screws. This is my first time using this adhesive.

Just replaced mine as well. I used g flex and 404.
After I was satisfied w/ grinding the bottom flush and opening up the inside corners I glued it in.
In place of the pump seal I used a scrap 1/4" circle of plexiglass and mounted the pump in place against the shoe.
Aligned the pump, wiped excess epoxy from around shoe and left it. I didn't use screws.
