Custom/Hybrid AM hull or bb engine first?

Im trying to decided which I should upgrade first.. I currently have a RN SJ with bolt on AM parts (B pipe, footholds, reeds, prop etc). Should I buy an AM hull (backie chan) first or do engine mods first? Im only able to do one or the other this year. I ride flat water only. Just trying to figure out my best course of action.

I have only ridden one AM hull but with a stock 800cc in it with a pipe it rode AMAZINGLY better than my stock hull with all my motor and pump mods. The hull I rode was a trinity but even it didnt really feel like it needed a huge motor to move it. +1 for hull first

Hull for sure. Wish I had done that from the beginning. 2 big bores later and many top ends before I dropped a stock motor back in my sj and bought a rtr AM hull with a stockish set up. Having much more fun on the new ski.

i went from an X2 to a foot rocket and all i can say is wow

ive never riden a superjet until a week ago. It was a 2009 superjet with all the same mods as my foot rocket..

The superjet felt like a complete turd to me. Im told they are decent for freestyle but they still dont/wont compare to an aftermarket hull

if your motor is due for a complete tear down why not make the holes a little bigger. no point in having a hull if the motor lets go a few rides into the season. nothing worse than a mid-season rebuild.

Increasing bore size on a stock cylinder is a waste of future rebore-ability. Going from 81.00mm to 83.00mm isn't gaining enough power to make it worth the headache.

Yet so many people exercise this logic. Not only does it sacrifice reliability, cost more to bore it bigger takes more cuts, it isn't really worth it.

I have made more bottom end power with a ported 650 bpiped than some people have with a 701 and all the bolt ons.

I've owned big bore superjets and currently have a 701 Chan. The chan is so much better than a BB superjet
