Custom/Hybrid AM hull or bb engine first?

I was in a similar position as you with my RN SJ. I had the basic bolt on's for the 701 and decided the next upgrade was hull. I went with the Vision from WCF and I'm really happy with it. Cutting a bunch of weight made the motor feel a ton stronger, and I love the stability and maneuverability of my new setup. The hard part is there are so many great choices out there in hulls right now it makes it a tough decision!

Im trying to decided which I should upgrade first.. I currently have a RN SJ with bolt on AM parts (B pipe, footholds, reeds, prop etc). Should I buy an AM hull (backie chan) first or do engine mods first? Im only able to do one or the other this year. I ride flat water only. Just trying to figure out my best course of action.

What exactly are you wanting to do on your ski?

Get the hull, but like someone said earlier, I would open the motor, I think is always a good idea to check condition of crankshaft/pistons/bearings over the winter. Better to find before catastrophe.

As everyone said hull first! Bb your motor right to 84mm and have it ported, we can always nikasil it when it's time to freshen it up. That way at least you will have a fresh engine and some power to go along with that new am hull!
