AM hulls, titles and insurance??

Hi,

Question

Do the am ski hulls have titles? Things like tiger craft, rrp, lee stone, bob, xscream etc, do these have titles? What’s the deal on insuring a 10-30k ski?

Do I need to drop large cash or can these things be insured and held by a bank? I think they need a title? My accountant just asked me how I insure a ski and I have no licoriceing clue friends.

I thought I just buy something and register it for like $15…I figure the only value is what people on this forum pay. I don’t know how a bank would assess the value of a ski or how I insure it there after…

Some agents can/will insure them. Haven't heard much as far as peoples success when filing a claim though. I had mine titled as home built and had insurance through state farm for 10k @200 a year.

I paid like 250 a yr? Idk. I have coverage on all my stuff. So hard to tell. It was cheap. Had to be a declared value. It was state farm. I had to file a police report saying it sunk. Other than that. They didn't say anything. According to my dmv friend. The hin is still valid in my name. So they didn't pursue anything after the check was cut. If it was 25k ski. Maybe they care? But I have over half a mil in co ersge of toys between geico and state farm. So if I was on a radar. I think I'd know

I got paid like 14k for a fire on my rzr. They didn't total it. Let me keep it and fix myself. And kept it insured. Which is what I cared about for my passenger or my health liability in case of a wreck. Insurance is worth it. Always

Got paid 12k to convert my rzr to the new front end ;harness and plastics were around 2k

That’s smooth

I’m only confident with Harley’s or dirt bikes on intense rebuilds like that.

That’s actually impressive as licorice, one thing I’m learning is all ski guys seem to be extremely mechanically inclined as well as good with money because this hobby isn’t cheap

@Sparkplug is the only person I've ever read about getting paid for an AM hull ski. I've seen plenty of people get their money taken by insurance companies but a lot of them after a month or two get their policy canceled.

Progressive is known for that... Approving the policy and canceling it later. I had insurance on my Reaper for 2+ years through state farm with no issues. If someone is trying to get insurance contact State farm agent: Andres https://www.andresordaz.com/

Both my superfreaks were insured through state farm for an agreed upon amount, I think they were between 150-200/year for 15k ish of coverage? Titles also depend where the ski came from etc, my first superfreak only had registration because it was in MN, my other one came from cali and has a title.

So. Have you seen someone file a claim, and be denied? Or just insurance raliz8ng the wrote a stupid policy and getting out if before it costs them money? Which is well within the law.

There was a company on here “offshore something” can’t quite remember but about a month after offering policies to people someone made a 30k claim and they quit taking new accounts and wouldn’t renew after the policy ended. Seems plenty of people figure out a way through State Farm and Progressive which usually end in a cancellation notice a month later. With all the talk of policies I haven’t seen a single one paid except the one above that dealt with offshore boats which required a ton of documentation.

I got a $15k payout on my havoc several years ago. It was with safeco. It was a $20k policy, cost $400 a year. They totaled it for cracked bottom on visual carbon but I got to keep it for a $5k salvage value and got 15k. They would not insure my next ski though.

I imagine alot of it depends on your record. With driving. And claims. Age. Value of machine. Nearby areas to use/hours a yr. It's all an algorithm. And I bet it gets sold by Joe schmo. And head honcho doesn't sign off on it till a couple months later.

When my rzr had the fire. They specifically asked if I had any other fires happen in my life that I had ever reported/filed a claim. And they were adamant that I answer honestly.

When it comes to insurance. Or anything really. Email. Always email. Even if you talk in the phone. If they tell you something. Make them email it to you for documentation. State farm emailed me documentation that I could swap back to a wood stove, in lieu of the gas furnace. This is technically illegal by California Law. But because they emailed me specifically stating I would still be covered. I'm good in case of a fire.
