Blue and I have used Amsoil dominator in our motors for many years with great results. Blue once refilled his kawi couch with straight gas without oil on accident. Effective ratio was very low. Same engine still running great years after the mistake. @Blue

True story. 2 gallons of premix and accidentally added 8 to 9 gallons of straight gas. Ran all day WOT since its a couch. 4 years later still runs like new. Compressions still 150 psi.

What!? I run Klotz because you told me to years ago. Lol
Local rider switched away from R50 because of all the spooge running out exhaust when it's sitting. He went to K2 and said it went away and he no longer needs a rag to catch it. K2 has a 240° flash point compared to R50 being over 500° (factor contributing to spooge). R50 is therefore great for sustained high rpm like racing where it will burn more thoroughly. K2 is available in 5 gallon buckets.

the tech at klotz will tell you not to run r50 unless your turning constant rpm over 8000 to generate the heat needed to burn the beanol off. oxy fuels and ultra high cylinder pressures help, but skicraft still works better even in those. mix a lil r50 with k2 or amsoil elem if you wana get real technical or your nose overrides your common sense

R50 doesn't contain benol castor, it's 100% ester synthetic like K2. Super techniplate has 20 % benol according to my search. But R50 is definitely a thick 50 weight oil with a high film strength great for racing/sustained high rpm protection.

I know this was about Klotz vs Amsoil, but I feel like it is worth mentioning Redline. Very pricey... but engineered well for many applications.

the dude that wrote that article is a fan Sea Doos and Ford diesels. I'm going to stick to my Sam's Club special which is Pennzoil semi synthetic for under $20 a gallon. But for real. I don't believe that fancy oils are worth the price. I'd rather rebuild every couple seasons and not worry about it.

One thing i have noticed is that data, no matter where its from can be incompllete, flawed, or down right incorrect. That is the reason forums took off. its for all of us to get together and hopefully say in a non boased environment what works best for us. Good luck, skis, oils, motors, hell socks. Everyone has their favorites and is biased in lafe from their experiences. With that said, there are many good products available, and maybe, just maybe there are a few that are equal. If you look at all the facts, and make a decision, you cant be wrong. You made the best decision at he time, given the current circumstance and information you had at that time. Now pick one and move forward with your day :)

LOL, someone told me similar to that years ago. I have had gooing issues with R50 once in a while since i chose Klotz over Amsoil. Since then I have learned why. The only reasoin is my brapping, cold water, and only down sides are spots in my grass and shop. Could Amsoil have been the better choice, maybe Dominator or Interceptor. Dominator is thin and for r50 thick. Thick sticks, thin runs off. Inteceptor is for PV's i have a PV motor. Ski craft is med weight, and for corrosion and PV. In hind sight maybe the Interceptor or Ski craft would have been better. On that note I havent lost a motor from R50, nor has my riding buddy on Dominator and he has had no PV issues either. Wait are all 4 possibly the best? What about brand X, LOL

So to conclude heres what we have:
Either 701 stock or 1200 PV strocker they all run mostly at low rpm most of the time and high 8000+ RPM is reached only for a second.
So any oil rated to burn at high temperature will eventually build gunk in the power valves or sludge in the exhaust system or am i wrong?
On the other hand we want an oil that mixes good with fuel and klinks to the inside parts of the engine, preventing rust while ski is not being used
We also have all these fancy terms such as: ash, castor, additives, TCW3, API-TC, benol etc that all oil brands use to promote their products and a bit confusing whats good what not for our application.
With my previous 781 engine and stock waterbox, after running over 4 gal of dominator and over 4 gal of klotz benol, my stock water box was completely clogged and i had 2mm+ sludge inside the exhaust hose. No idea if that was due to the type of oils i have used.
Now with the 950cc PV and RRP waterbox i have used 4gal of klotz r50 and 4gal of dominator. Not planning to rebuild engine any time soon, but that was the reason to bring up that annoing oil topic once again.
Very interesting and informative points so far
