Anatomy of a Turf Job

Looking good.

Is that a void between the upper and lower havles of the hull? Would be a good time to fill it.

The 2 halves of that hull seperated at the back of the tray when I owned that hull.

Yes,l was wondering what happened there and need to address that area before turfing it.l cut out a sizable hole in the tray and bored 3 holes in different spots (3) and it was bone dry.Which is weird because of 2 other 2014 Krash hulls that l know of were soaked inside.Guess it wasn’t built on a Monday or Friday lol

Did you sell this hull to a guy in Michigan named Mark?

I bet the Plexus has it sealed in that area. There was plenty on mine over the tray! Like you said too, i'm sure there were different people assembling the hulls so it all depends who did yours on what day. Plus, my tray was soaked because somebody decided to poke holes in it haha I guess when you drill holes through the tray and through the pump tunnel it will leak!

Ya, sold it to him beginning of 2018.
I got the hull new beginning of 2016.

Both footrockets I owned seperated at the tray, it's been so long ago, but I probably used chopped/milled glass/epoxy mixture and neither came back apart during my ownership. I think they had used plexus, which I've seen that stuff fail alot, I heard it doesn't like big voids.

I sewed those hood straps, turfed the holds and installed that blue strap to hold tow rope, is how I knew it was my old ski lol.

The tow rope is very kool.Great idea.I cut the back of the footholds a bit shorter this time around. They are useful but get in the way.And am going to reinstall the two rope holder once l get done putting some turf on them.

Finished the ski this afternoon.Still have to install the latch, primer, bilge switch and foot holds.
Biggest kick l have done on any of my skis and also left a layer out of the padding in the rest of the tray.Could have used 19mil pad but l ended up glueing 2-.25 pieces together.lt still has a 26mil down under that. With the original turf you would not see the pump box and tunnel. When l stacked the pads at the rear,l kept the “stealthy” look to it by grinding it down with an angle grinder. Keeps the look of the rest of the body.Got a couple mistakes in the turf, but once you ride it,all is forgotten
