Annular discharge

We’ve done back to back comparison with SBN 46s and annular discharge 48s and the 48s were night and day better. More bottom end, better throttle response and what seemed like more over all power.

This was awhile back, and by no means am I trying to dig up controversy, but I was very surprised when a prominent person(s) in the community tried vehemently to tell me that a lot of the info in that article was b.s.

Now here’s the big question. I already have a set of novi 48’s comming. But I really wanna try the discharge carbs. Is it worth it, or just spinning my wheels for no good reason.

I just went on the forum and searched it. And it seems like there’s always a few people chimeing in saying it’s not worth it and they are super finicky and hard to jet. Like I said I have a pair of novis but considering switching because the science behind them is really interesting and I know they work awesome on big v8 holly carbs

I ordered mine a few years ago. Gave Art my motor specs. 61x ported 735. Recieved carbs already jetted. Only had to turn low or high speed screws a small bit. 6 weeks later I upgraded to a DASA 6mm stroked non Pv motor 820cc. Emailed Art, told me to raise the low speeds up a few sizes. Spot on. 2 years later they still crank the ski with no primer needed. Hot or Cold engine. Any carb can be finicky if you do not know what your doing. And I suck at tuning.

nick at carbon tech and his crew ran blackjack carbs on their superjets back in the late 90s/early 2000s.
they were constantly out there with the radar gun and tuning for max performance.
these were race boats but they had big bottom end which is also needed for racing.
they ran blackjacks because they worked, not because they had to.
looking down the throat of an annular discharge carb when you wick the throttle is a cool looking sight.
they sure look like they atomize the fuel nice.
too bad we now know that dont mean $hit. lol
i thought i once saw a chart on the signal strength of verious carbs on group k.
