What the heck is it for. I did a search but did not come up with anything. I am talking about the little screw on job between the sleeves on the top of the cylinder inside the water jacket.

It is a sacrificial piece that helps for electralisys (sp?); at least thats what I thought? Instead of eating away at the cylinder, it eats the anode?

Don't ask a question! Its a fact. Not that it prevents corrosive buildup, but it prevents the metals from being damaged. Kinda pointless though, the water that sits in there with owners who dont blow the water out doesnt touch it, and thats when the real damage occurs.

Ya, I thought that was its purpose, just wasn't 100% positive. I knew that was its purpose on boats, thats why I was unsure! I have never seen a cylinder with one that was really corroded though, but I am in freshwater area.

it is called galvanic corrosion
when u have water flowing in and out of things plus high volts, some of those volts will pass through
it will eat the anode first before the block
