whats pwi?

Personal Watercraft Illustrated isn't going anywhere. In fact, in addition to our seasonal seven issues a year, we're going to try out special subscriber-only online-only editions during the seasonal off-months! Pretty exciting stuff. There's more info to come. Stay tuned!

Personal Watercraft Illustrated,
America's longest-lasting PWC-enthusiast publication regularly features "first ride" evaluations, insightful technical articles and "do-it-yourself" how-to's, adventure/location rides, exciting racing coverage, riding events, and constructive, informed input and insight that major manufacturers and industry members listen to. No other PWC magazine today can claim that sort of impact.

But, that doesn't mean there's room to grow and learn from. I'm working diligently to always improve Personal Watercraft Illustrated. No doubt, many have noticed this year's exciting issues with never-before-seen covers (just you wait for your July '09 issue!), rich photography, and packed-to-the-gills-with-tons-of-content features. While we can't be everything to everyone each month, we do try to touch all of the bases with each issue.

Of course, I'm always interested in hearing your input! Please, never hesitate to call me personally at 714/751-7433 or email me at editor@watercraft.com. Thanks for your honesty and hope to hear from you soon!

Hey Kevin,

Since you are on here can you shed some light on prices. US is $19 while for us Canadian its $65. I do know that shipping (postage) isn't much different but maybe there are some other costs involved that I don't know about. I would love to subscribe but for 65 bux a year its hard to bring myself to spend that cash especially that I know that a guy in buffalo (1hr from me) gets is at almost a 1/4 of the price.

Thanks,
Adam

PS. I am sure it the price was more reasonable there would be quite a few of us subscribing.

like i said before you are doing a great on the magazine, and you are doing more standup and racing stuff which we like, that is a good idea to buy your magazine online us canadains would not have to pay the high shipping cost, and further more i think all magazines and newspapers will have to go the internet route, so many newspapers and magazines are having a hard time, i buy the daily racing forum online dont have to go to store just click on it , that would be cool and i would do the same for your magazine

Adam,

You're very right. I believe Canada is $40 or $45 for a year's sub and international is $65. But, I did find something rather interesting. When you get the chance, look at the per issue price on the cover. The US and Canadian prices are the same. That would make you ask questions, right?

Well, when I looked into it, I found out it was because of the deflated value of the US dollar. Without getting into the details, the cost to ship anything across boarders or overseas hasn't really "gone up" as our dollars have gone down in value.

The online edition - although still in its planning stages - might be a great avenue for people. We're thinking of a couple different forms of subscriptions: 1) Full sub (includes 7 issue sub and the online magazine) 2) Partial sub (online edition of the magazine only) and 3) Classic sub (7 issue print magazine only).

That way we have way more accessibility to people.

Thanks for the response but there are couple of things.

One here is a screenshot of your site clarifying that international includes canada.

http://www.cyclenewsstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_17&products_id=36

So still 65 dollars (us dollars btw).

Shipping to any state on us side VS to Canada is a difference of pennies for a magazine subscription, thats what I got from USPS international delivery services help desk.

USPS and Canada Post have an agreement in place to keep the prices low so there are other mags out there whos subscriptions are same price for north america.

Cost of printing is the same.

Overseas I can understand but not across the boarder.

Please keep in mind that I do not expect the same price just one that is reasonable when extra costs are taken into consideration.

Personally I prefer a paper copy vs online copy.

Would you mind getting someone in you marketing dept. do some research on prices and get back to us?

BTW value of US dollar is only for the shipping across the border only, price on getting it to the boarder is still the same.

Thanks in advance,
Adam

You're absolutely right, Adam.

I'm frankly stumped, so I'm going to run this up to the publisher, Robert Norvelle, and see what he thinks. I always thought that the surge in pricing between the US and Canada was pretty ludicrous myself.
