Another one of my dumb question threads...Ball size!

My local Ace Hardware has stainless balls. I have steel balls and mine are all rusty. If I ever replace my balls, I'll get stainless ones. I've always dreamed of having stainless balls...someday my dream will come true. Then I'll polish my balls till they shine. Everyone will be jealous of my shiny balls......ok I'm done.

I just checked on my bumper and it doesn't have 3 holes. It only has one. :(

I'll have to find a 1/2" shaft 2" ball, as that seems to be the most popular. I plan on having all the sizes, but for now, it should do.

They're chromed. I'm not sure if they're stainless or not though. :)

2" my 2 cents - PWC Trailer I bought and Mod'd had 1"7/8 but I switched it out - cause I had 2" ball on my SUV and my dad's/brother's and most standard tailers I borrow/pull are 2".

has nobody heard of a convert-a-ball. You mount the base, it comes with 1 7/8,2" and 2 5/16 balls. You can also just get the kit with the 2 smaller sizes. They work great.

you guys said "balls".

An 1 7/8 ball will tow a 2 inch trailer, its just a little sloppy lol. Ive done it for local trailering but wouldnt recommend it. it locked on good too, I couldnt separate them.

I have a set of those on my truck but you have to keep your balls lubed up so the shaft don't get stuck... Then when you swap it out you have a greasy ball in your hand trying to put it somewhere....

WOW this thread can sound really bad when you read it the right way.

I have mostly seen the 2" couplers, however the 1 7/8" pop up just when you least expect them and if you don't have that ball then you are stuck trying to find a store that does.

Just a word of advise, buy both balls and carry a monkey wrench/ pipe wrench (to hold the ball) and one of those wrenches they sell at auto zone made to remove the nut off the bottom. After a few months(especially down in florida) they tend to not want to come off easily. I also put grease on the threads every time I change it out.
