I'm a new member, first time poster, long time site follower. I've been wearing out the search function for a week now with no luck. You guys have a vast sea of knowledge, so let'er rip.
Here we go:
1990 SJ 650
ROGO head (180 PSI cranking on both cylinders)
Protec exhaust
mikuni 46, rebuilt last year
new plugs
new coil
Will turn fine, will not run. Ran fine all day, then at random it shut off and would not start. let it sit for an hour, then it ran fine again. Then again, it shut down on me and would not crank. Now the problem is no longer intermittent.
compression is 180
has spark, with new plugs and new coil, maybe the spark is faint, but i'm not sure
confirmed the carb is getting fuel by removing the main line and return from the carb to the tank and blew into the return line.
sprayed WD40 into the carb intake, nothing.
I've bypassed the start/stop switch, so that's not the problem
battery is good, and I've used a booster. starter turns the engine over plenty fast, just no fire.
Ohms meter confirms good ground to the engine and cylinder head.
The little icon that bangs his head into the brick wall doesn't even sum up my frustration.
It seems I have checked all parts of the equation except timing. Any ideas on this? could the timing have jumped?
Please, help a fellow rider keep his sanity. thanks in advance!
