Surfriding Any precaution to ride icy water??

I will take my jet ski out for the first time this season on next wednesday. The water is actually at 35F and the is still a lot of iceburg. I worry about my engine running too cold. Should I swith to single cooling or put a reducer on the lines? Any other advice?
It's gonna be d%mn freaking cold but I can't wait any longer to ride!! :)
Thanks

off course i don't ride alone!! At anytime, even in the summer, I'm riding in whitewater. And I don't have a drysuit, only a 5mm wetsuit with 2 pairs of 4mm socks, 3mm gloves. What should I use to restrict the cooling outlets??

Nylon spacers work ok, most decent hardware stores carry an assortment. Let the ski warm up fully before riding too.

Neoprene hood would be a welcome addition to your riding apparel.

X2 on that. That water is cold enough to black you out when it hits your head. Ask me how I know this, lol. I was on a 38deg C lake and had to take a knee for several seconds before I got my vision, and wits, back, if you are riding whitewater, you may not have that luxury.

I'm surprised nobody has pointed out that its a bit idiotic to ride in that cold of water without the proper gear. I personally think if you are going to even attempt that you need to invest in a dry suit.

We have ridden when its in the 40's and you can crack your block if its not restricted single cooling, etc. If you havent tried it before you should adjust motor first and get the temps up. I wear a dive hood under my helmet, etc. Then if you dont go under or fall in, youre ok. You should have hand and foot warmers, and a sit down rescue boat. Trust me I know.

I ride in 35 deg Water / 25 deg Air with a wetsuit. It's about having a good quality suit.
(I also wear neoprene socks, shoes, a tour coat, and helmet.

At this temp. I'm not riding more than about 45min at the time. Warm clothes waiting for you in the truck are a must too!!Air temp. will be 48F on wednesday (which damn warm for this time of the year, can't resist!!)
Two years ago water temps was at 42F and air temp at when I started the season, it was april 20th or something... I'm just trying to beat records this year!

i ride all year long, but that doesnt really count in florida. but still, even when water temps are 45-55 (about the coldest i have seen in florida) it hurts my head and gives me a brain freeze when i get a face full. thats with a 3/2 suit, 3mm socks and 4/5mm hood, which keeps my body pretty toasty but it still hurts my face. im not a big fan of gloves, and never wear neoprene ones but do wear mx style in the surf.

i run single cooling with a 3mm restrictor in 55 and below temps. i could imagine in freezing cold water, you need much more restriction.
