Anybody bringing a -7 Superfreak??!!

I'm seriously considering ordering a -7 SF Badass and was wondering if anybody will be bringing a -5, -6, or -7 to the Freeride and if so would you mind me taking a 5 minute ride on it? I wont (CAN'T!!!) roll it or flip it,...I just want to actually ride one and get a feel for it --even though most of my riding is in the river chasing boats. I am an experienced rider but I just never learned to flip, roll, stab,..etc. (I'm hoping the new lighter hull will help my progress though!) And of course I will gladly pay for gas/oil and buy a few beers to anyone who lets me take a 5-10 minute spin!

I am not 100% sure I can even make it down yet,...but If I get a yes then I will do everything in my power to get down there.

Also, since I wont be bringing my own ski,....do I still need to register if I do get a chance to ride/demo a few different skis?

Hope to see and meet a few of you down there and either way I hope the surf is awesome for you.

I'm not sure who will be there with a smaller SF. Figured I'd ask to see if any were definitely going to be there and if I could demo it for a few minutes. Hopefully I'll make it down and demo a few skis since I have no experience with any AM hulls. But from doing my research the past few months I'm pretty sure the shorter Freak will be perfect for me.

Mine will have the long plate on for surf, pole at longest it goes, otherwise you could try mine if surf isn't to nasty. Not worth monkeyin with the pole and short plate in the surf.

Thanks Byeai,..that sounds like an even better idea for me since I am less concerned about how it rides in surf --(only ride surf maybe 1-2 times a year but hopefully will make the Brig Beach Bash this year) --and I'll probably get a better feel for the hull itself not being in the surf. Hopefully there will be a few short Freaks there and they let me take it out for a lil spin.

And XJ I have heard that the short Freaks are just as stable as the longer ones,....even heard some people say the shorter the better when it comes to Freaks!
But I was originally sold on the glass -9 Titan until I heard that anything shorter than a -7 and you lose some top deck "tray" space and the gunwells (sp?!!) are cut lower and shorter. I chase boats 90% of the time and occasionally ride surf stance so I'd like to have the standard tray length without having a lot of "overhang" past the gunwells if I didn't have it cut (if that makes sense?!!) Even with the -7 I'll still probably go with the front foothold as well, but I am pretty sure the -7 SHOULD be my ideal ski. Unfortunately I only know of a few that have built and none are anywhere near me!!

My original plan was to get a new -9 Titan until I heard about the tray/gunwell situation. But after doing some research I have convinced myself that I'd rather have a carbon Badass then a glass Titan anyway,...even if they decide to make a -7 Titan (I Just wish the Badasses came finished/pre painted like the Titans do!!!!!)

Thanks Jeastes,.....I will hit you up if I can make it down and get your info so I can meet up with ya. I appreciate it! What size is yours anyway? (either way I'd love to try it to see what the different lengths feel like compared to one another)

Hey Timson,....is that like "wings" that bolt onto the back of the hull like Rickters or Matrix hulls? Wasnt aware of Freaks offering them?!! I really think a -7 freak will ride perfectly fine anyway,...at least it seems most people say they ride a well as full size and -4.3's. But its nice to know I have that option if I do feel its too short

The ski we are doing for Timson is a custom -9" adjustable with a one off 155mm pump tunnel . I have been out of the country for a month but hope to have a finished -7" with a 701 in it that you are welcome to take a spin on .

Thanks McDog. I was thinking and hoping that was the case. I will be at FW Friday so hopefully they're will be some there. I know Thrust will have a Circus or 2,..but I figured the -4.3 would give me a better feel of the -7 Badass hull. Just hope there are some regular freaks there with 701's or at least under 850cc engines so I can get a feel for the hull! I'm bringing a vest and 1/2 suit but no helmet so not sure if I'll get to try one in surf. Either way I'll be there in 24 hours. Cant wait.

And thanks Tem! I emailed you a few weeks ago (Carm from Philadelphia) but do remember you saying you're out of country for a while. Glad you're back safe and I look forward to trying that -7. Timson mentioned earlier that I could check out his new ski as well. But I thought he was going -7 with hull extensions???
I was origianally planning on going the -9 Titan,...but after finding out the tray is shorter and the gunwells (sp?) are shorter,...I've come to the conclusion that the -7 Badass is probably a better ski for me. (Harder to build and a little more costly,...but it's carbon and lighter so in the long run I'll be happier I'm sure! Gotta spend your money on something, right?!!!)
Either way I will be talking to you in Daytona and asking you a bunch of questions so please be patient with me! I look forward to finally trying one of these awesome hulls.

I spoke with Tem at length at the Finals a couple of years ago about his hulls. He is one of the nicest and most patient type of person that you'll run into (not that almost everybody at ski events isn't). I learned a lot from him that day at Body Beach. I expect you'll have the same positive experience that I did.
