Anybody have a foil board?

Location

Just bought a slingshot surf foil plan is to use it behind the boat and hopefully at the beach this year if I can learn to pump
Been really wanting to try one but I am nervous to drop cash on one that may or may not work behind a smaller direct drive. What boat are you using it on? What size wing you get?

I plan to use it behind my moomba mondo v drive. But I have watched lots of videos of guys riding behind direct drives just fine. Hell the guy who compares every wing setup on youtube ( wakethief) gets most of his pulls from a jetski. I went with slingshot hover glide surf setup which has a 28 in mast, and the infinity 76cm wing. The wake setup uses the smaller gamma68 wing. I figured a bigger wing will help if I try to dock start and learn pumping. Should be here Friday. Wakemakers has a good sale goin on right now is the only reason I bought mine.

So after a summer of learning the foil, I am much better at it but still not to the point of being able to ride on it ropeless. Hoping I can get it down by the end of summer but its not looking promising. I have been able to pump it some and thats a pretty cool feeling of driving the foil with my body motion. Just need to learn to let go and catch a wave.

I mostly foil behind my moomba mondo, but anything will work. Jet ski, pontoon, flat bottom fishing boat. Basically anything that can pull you you can ride behind. I have just started getting to the point of getting slack in the line which is one step closer to riding ropeless.

Oh okay so you're behind a proper v-drive surf boat. I primarily ski, and I run a '94 MC Prostar 205, I just thought this might be something that would be fun to do after taking ski sets. I would probably buy a much larger front wing than you have.

If I were doing it all over again I would get an axis foil. Its a ferrari vs a camry. The slingshot foil would do just fine behind the prostar. Especially for learning. Its literally the most fun I have had behind a boat in years. At least since I gave up my superjet is 2015. And even though im behind a surf style boat, I am foiling with no ballast and you really dont need any ballast to foil.

Rode a different foil today, first time ever not being on mine. Lift 200 I think? Rode welln and I was able.to go ropeless behind the boat! Behind a beautiful Supra SL with an amazing wave. Could not believe I was able to do it especially qhen I wasnt even sure I could. Dude told.me to toss the rope said it was just a crutch and one more thing to worry about. I tossed it and boom there I was just floating like I knew what I was doing! Most amazing feeling ever. Easily my favorite watersports achievement of my career on the water@
