Planning to build mine like the Big foot.
Should be able to cut everything like I want then take it to a welder.
I ordered from onlinemetals.com. Probably way to much material but it was only 180.00 with coupon code for free shipping.

If u plan on coming up by Illinois this winter i weld for a living lol

Aluminium.
Good deal, im prob gona make mine out of stainless, Or carbon. Depends if i have acess to an aluminum machine at the time. if i make it from carbon with stainless wire, jumbo cup, and clear coat it, stainless filler wire on carbon steel makes a rainbow color and the welds look sweet. Plan on buying an enclosed trailer in the spring i could just wheel it in who cares if its heavy. If your going to have aluminum welded make sure you take it to a good welder that will tig weld it and not that wire spool bs. Aluminum is tricky and without a trained hand you may have welds breaking on you and then you have your expensive ski laying on concrete or your 200 mile weekend ruined not able to put your ski in the water cause of some jerk off who claimes he can weld aluminum. Also, for future reference do some research and look up uour local metal supply houses, should be much cheaper. especially down by you in GA. Im from Chicago and all metal is $$$$&:&;)/$/$$$$$$ no matter where you buy it lol

Local shops usually sell in full lengths of 20-24' only, at least mine do anyways. I buy as much local as possible and then shop online for the small stuff where I only need a short piece of stock.

I got way to much but thought it was a good price.
The 1 inch round bar will probably be to big. Should have gotten 3/4 inch.

Finding a welder is next on the list. Guy at the lake does it but he lives an hour away and works all week. He is really good though.

Looks good, looks like your ski is going to be higher up than most.
I am a little concerned that it will. I almost cut the tubes a few inches but started worrying that the tires may touch the hull like my old one did. Took the gel coat right off!
Tires are 18,s instead of the 21 balloon tires.

BTW, the axle kit came from Ebay, like $40, with hubs & bearings. The axle itself is just a 4' section of DOM tubing. The length of the trailer is an 8' galvanized fence post (like $8 at HD). The wheels & tires are take offs from a Polaris ATV (4"x4"). The only welding I did on it is the rectangular frame & the axle into the DOM. I think the whole thing cost me like $140 with the wood, paint & carpet.

It's not street legal & only usable behind the cart or maybe an ATV. I use a hitch hauler if I need to take it with the truck.

The funny part is if the ski isn't on the trailer while it's in the water, the trailer floats.
