I used to think a "fountain" was when you pulled your plugs
and blew the water out of your engine!

I tried to fountain for the first time this weekend, thought the bilge was on and it was not. Didn't notice till the ski started to sputter on revs. Didn't pop the hood but it took about 5 mins for the bilge to expel all the water. That was fun but have never actually sunk a ski but, there have been about 5 skis sunk in our ride group so far this season.

Way home from Daytona 4 years ago Todd sunk his ski on the trailer on the way home. 24 hour ride and it poured rain the hole time, skis iced over have way home. Put the tailer in the shop to melt. Next day open his hood and the water was over the hood line, as it opened water shot out. Ya he wasnt happy.
First time i ever saw that

Needless to say we bought an enclosed trailer after that.

Yeah, I think just about everyone in the Wavejunkies crew has had a ski dragged along the bottom at least once! Bridges is famous for sinking his ski, I would say 10 times at least, and that would be an understatement. It sank last weekend (twice), at Daytona, at Willoughby where it had to be located with a fish finder, mine sank at the lake with Phil, his sank shortly there after....

All this to say, when I first started riding, seeing a boat going under used to get the adrenalin pumping, now when I see it, I simply think to myself "well, looks like we are gonna be on the beach for a little while....."

I sunk my SJ, about 2.5 miles from my dock, and about .5 miles from shore. Luckily, my friend was riding with me, and he was on a couch- getting towed back to the shore wasn't a problem. I had a fountain just like in that Tahiti video.
