I'm thinking about buying the shuffle setup and some waterproof head phones. I don't know about you guys, but music or buddies get me pumped up!:fing02: So, anyone have any of these cases? Pros or Cons?

You'll Be alot better off checkin out http://www.fullwaveaudio.com/ Their systems are the trickest things. Bar none, the best way to put music on your ski. I'm not sure if anyone's put one in a SJ yet....But someone gotta do it. Nothin like blastin your tunes to a barrel roll. Give Todd a call over there. He'll hook ya up.

I dont like the headphones idea cuz of safety as well as just listening to your engine to hear how it is running and listening to any issues that might come up

another thing would be the weight....

that system above seems ok... but expensive!!!... an idea I just had right now is: replacing my gas cap with a 3" waterproof midrange speaker, seal it on there good with some 5200, use a small waterproof amp, and a waterproof mp3 player.... should be about $150 including all that stuff... dont know how long one of those speakers would last though.... they are "waterproof"... I guess the only way to find out is to try one...

total weight should be about 3 pounds or so... biggest thing would be if it would be loud enough to hear over the damn exhaust :) guess you'd have to have it crank it up

I would really enjoy it on the days when I am messing around when no boats or anyone is on the lake...

actually now that I think about it... that speaker would perform like crap mounted at that angle... water would prob sit in the cone most of the time... at least that is what would seem like what would happen...

only place to mount it might be in the front of the tray.... no way in hell I would cut a 3" hole in the front of my tray though unless I knew it would be worth it...

What I have done for my ipod shuffle is to put it inside a deflated balloon. Put a zip tie or rubberband around the top where the headphone wire comes out. Then tuck it into the forearm/wrist sleeve of my wetsuit. Works great.

I've found some pretty thick, almost transparant balloons at the party store down the street.

I use AquaPacks and DryPacks for my phone. I have had very good results with the keeping items dry. They do make an MP3 player version that you might want to look into.

I have a music phone and I was thinking about putting my phone in an auqa pack, and then putting my bluetooth in the Aquapack MP3 (I have a Bluetooth that uses standard headphone jacks)

Headphones on a ski is just a bad idea all the way arround. The Full wave speakers and amp are completly water proof, and sound awsome. Just hook up an Ipod and your good to go.

wonder how much that system weighs... maybe only use one speaker out the 2 to save weight... make an enclosure out of a 3" pvc tube for a 3" speaker, use a waterproof little tiny amp, and use an mp3 player. ( you can get all that stuff for like $120 online).. maybe 3 pounds? I might look into this myself... would be cool to listen to some tunes.... it would have to be pretty light weight though...

It would be great to somehow combine the thrill of riding with some motivating music:

using that mp3 player, 1 poly-planer speaker, 1 poly-planer or equiv. small amplifier.

1)speaker - 8 oz.
2)speaker enclosure (3" pvc) and hardware- estimated 6 oz.
3)amp + hardware + wiring - 18 oz.
4)waterproof mp3 player + % error in calculations - 6 oz.

#'s taken off technical spec sheets
= 2.38 pounds for one speaker mp3 sound system

estimated price = $120-150 and you get an extra speaker for backup.

I am seriously thinking about doing this... it would be sweet to listen to some tunes while riding...key is if it would be loud enough... I think it might be as it would be in the tray...

and the speaker would not stick out as far as in the pic...

I have an H2OAudio enclusure for my iriver 799 MP3 player. Well I have two actually. Originally they wanted around $200 for it, F that! Well since the iriver 799 MP3 player is only 1GB and loosing popularity I got it on closeout for around $40 and the other one for around $20. One is a general waterproof version that is good to 10ft deep. The other is a diver's version which is good to 200ft. I haven't used it yet but but it is pretty big and bulky compared ot my smaller player. Also the headphones are bigger and have these waterproof ear plugs that fit snug into your ears. I think the 10ft water proof version is better for say if you are out swimming or on a boat and it would fall in the water. I don't think I will use mine much because hell I never use the MP3 player... doh... I will probably use my player out in the water this year and report back to you how it does. Still the question comes ot mind... do you really want to put you $$$ MP3 player in water regardless of using a waterproof case? The case does lock pretty well though.

do you use headphones while riding? How do you hear other stuff... do you only use one headphone or something? I like the idea of headphones cuz you dont have to worry about weight or installing anything... but how can you hear boats, sirens, engine, etc with headphones in?

true... I guess I figured headphones + a little music + a helmet might as well be ear-plugs... I might just get the mp3 and headphones and use it on the days when I am alone at the lake (no boats or other skis...)... that will prob be the best days to have a little motivation anyways...

yeah... this is a bit different... we arent talking about putting a complete surround sound stereo and fishing rod holder on our skis here.... :)

we would not be listening to elton john either...

I was only planning on putting one headphone in anyway for safety reasons, and I always wear a helmet... I look like such a poser :sadwavey: So, I need some motivation to give me a reason to wear a helmet :Banane19:

Alright, with a little research last night, I found out the following:

www.swimman.com....will waterproof my shuffle for $90

new shuffle water proofed is $150 or $250 w/headset

H20audio on ebay is $70 shipped for the case and gen3 headphones/earplugs

generic shuffle on ebay is like $25-35

ziptie plus big balloon $5 but still need head phones and how sealed is it? Please provide some feedback and what headphones, exp, etc....

generic waterproof mp3 is $40 or so on ebay

So, what to do? I do fall off my ski, and the idea of taking it snorkeling, wakeboarding, beach, whatever sounds great......but losing my mp3 to water damage is not appealing.

Any other opinoins aside from a full stereo system?

Thanks,

Chad

I would go with the waterproof mp3 on ebay for like 50 bucks... if it breaks and lasted a year then who cares... you will forget about it and buy a new one for the next season....
