Anyone have chronic back or neck pain?

I've been suffering from chronic low back pain for over 15 yrs and chronic neck pain for about a year. Nothing has seems to help, I have degenerative disk disease, several bulging disks and a herniated L5-S1. It's been getting worse lately and I'm coming to the conclusion that I shouldn't jetaki anymore at least for awhile. Doctors don't think I need surgery.

My neck pain is the main problem now. I can hardly sit down for more then a few mins and driving more then 15 mins is very painful.

Anyone else have or have had simialar problems and have any advice?

-Find a good Rolfer(goes deep) and or a good chiropractor/Active Release Specialist.
-Foam roller and lacross ball are great but you have to use them

-If you are overweight shed the extra pounds
-Planks will help

@Dustin88 sounds like you and I have a lot in common! I've used chiropractors, massage therapy, physical therapy, stretching, muscle relaxers, etc, etc,! I responded to some better than others! Like Big Kahuna said, an inversion table helps quite a bit, but for me I must be proactive and use it daily whether I feel I need it or not. I had a cortisone shot in my spine once, creeped in like an 90 year old and tap danced out, but only lasted 3 months before pain returned. Good luck with your journey, I hope you find something that helps!!!!

I am starting to get frequent back pain now that I spend more time at desk then I ever have before... a crappy chair probably isn't helping, Chiro says I have a bulged disk. It seems to heal a bit and feel better when I am not sitting poorly all the time.

As for advice, not that I always take my own... I would look into two things:

1: Float chambers
2: HHO gas therapy

I only had the chance to use a float chamber once, but it was awesome. Helped my knees, wrists, back, mind... All the stuff I have messed up over the years of crap I put my body through, and I could feel a difference for a few weeks with just one visit. It seems the more you go the better and longer lasting the results.
If you search for float tank or sensory deprivation tank you should be able to locate one near you.

I have only really used hho (browns gas) for engine related uses, but I have heard and read about some very interesting health related things people have used it for, including the reduction/elimination of back pain and carpal tunnel.
You can find info on this stuff online, but keep an eye out for the insane amount of disinfo on it.

Has anybody had experiences with either of these?

I like the mullers lumbar belt ($15) over the ace belt ($20).

Dont quit riding, but you are not invinceable. Sometimes you are going to have to sit out.

Get a couch for the bad days. People say "id rather quit than sit". Personally id rather sit on my blaster than sit on the beach. I bouht the b1 after injury to keep riding, got it cheap and kept my superjet. I would have been perfectly happy with a gp, hx, b2, xp, etc, just sonhappened the b1 came available first and is easier to haul and work on.

stretching, strengthing and weight lost can help to some degree, but nothing makes a narrow spinal canal wider but surgery. Steroids reduce inflamation that puts pressure on the nerve but only if the canal is big enough.

If your are over weight, do something about it. Inabiliy to exercise is not an excuse. You might have to be hungry, but no healthy person ever died of stavation simply from being hungry. I have also found that after about a month of being hungry, i got full faster and was hungry left often. Snacks help, like cheese sticks, slices of meat, veggies with no dressing. Also, stay away from diet. Diet doesnt have calories (doesnt burn in testing), but it confuses the body. Its like putting radiator fluid in your gas tank, it doesnt burn but it makes the car weigh more and you still have to add gas. I limit myself to one can of soda per day when riding or wrenching, otherwise i drink water or watered down lemonade.

Well I'm thinking most of my problems are coming from years of pore posture, improper lifting and bending coupled with high impact sports.

I'm basically having to relearn how to do everything which is very difficult!

So far the best advice I've have read and what seems to be helping is from dr. Jolie bookspan's website.

I did buy a foam Roler other day but only used it once because it hurt so bad! But I'm going to start using it more.

I've got a lot of work ahead of me, thanks for advice!

Dustin check out doterra deep blue rub it's not a answer to your problems but helps a lot with neck pains .

Core, core and more core!

I haven't had back issues for several years now but I see a chiropractor once a week proactively. Don't be afraid to shop around for a good one either. It took me several to find the one I see now. In addition to good adjustments and advice, they should also give you a list of exercises to perform at home. Don't expect them to fix you in minutes when you have the rest of the day to undo everything. Learn new habits, build up your core and make changes where they need to be made.

Keep riding. I feel my best by end of August, then summer is over for me. Inflammation can make those problems much worse. I too have had low back pain, I own a traverse table and its helps. Recently I have neck pain. Your almost describing my body. 90% of my problems have been relieved with diet. STOP WITH ALL SUGAR PRODUCTS LIKE SODA. Gluten free food also. Rely on vegetables for sugar the body needs per Chiropractic orders and drink a lots of water. This diet will suck but if you stick with it for minimum 4-5 weeks you should notice a great deal of relief.

Fractured c2 and a fractured l5-s1 with 2 herniated disks and a lesioned disk.. Healing and health and good morale starts with a good diet. Stretch in the morning, I got cortisone shots and epidurals those only took the edge off. What helps the most is not "benching" yourself. Stay active but don't hurt yourself. When I first got back on my feet I instantly felt better just from getting the blood flowing though. Try different chiropractors until you find the one, you'll know when you do. I use the inversion table for about 15 minutes a day. Also some chiropractors have the traction or decompression machines those help a lot but can get expensive.
