Brand new oem steering cable. Broke end off with 5 threads left and bent it a little loading it up immediately after installing it. I can cut some some threads on it and extend it to use it but it is ever so slightly bent and binding a little. Anyone know some tricks?

There should be a trick. Steering and throttle cables suck ass. Every time I remove my gas tank I think "This is it, that cables done"

Here is one that was a little bent, tried to save it, broke within 15 minutes.

It already broke just like that except by pump. It is just ever so slightly bent as to bind just a little now further up the rod. I just need to barely bend it straight. It's so slight i cant even tell where it is bent.

If your to get it straight? Slip a steel tube, as close in Dia as you can get over the cable
Find the Bend, hold the opposite side with another steel tube and try bending?
That is your best option, however, trash can for the win!

the mistake that was made was leaving any visible threads. I always put nuts on exposed threads. it always bends and breaks right there. several times, I've just mig welded the threads back on without removing the cable.

RRP makes a threaded collar to replace the jam nut and reinforce that area.
