Anyone respray their SJ? Thinking of going Ford Mystichrome.

I have an orange over black 2013 model that I plan on keeping for a long time. I think it looks pretty good, but I just love to customize things and make them really mine! I'm thinking of spraying it with a rare color Ford released on certain SVT Cobra Mustangs called mystichrome. It is a teal blue to purple metallic color shift paint. It looks pretty funky on the cars and I think it would look amazing on a Superjet despite the cost of the paint. I want to put on the newer graphics over the paint because I like it to look sort of factory PLUS in a way. Not sure if I want to do the black or the newer blue and green. I will leave the handpole black. Anyone have experience spraying their SJ? Feel free to post up some pics. I will probably do this in the winter time, I was thinking about this and I just thought I'd bounce around some ideas for fun.

I think it’s a cool idea but I don’t think the green and blue graphics would look good at all with it.

House of Kolor also makes some other colors in that effect called Kameleon Kolors, they are expensive and pretty difficult to get right.

It’s pretty easy to paint a ski though. Just epoxy primer, base and clear.

The black style is probably the best. Not sure if the white stripe in those graphics would work, maybe I could cut out the white with a hobby knife leaving just the black.

I was using a heat gun on my hood to remove the previous owners stickers and I accidentally melted off some of the paint. It seems to come off easily. I wonder if the hull is the same stuff?

Nope, thankfully the hull is not the same stuff and will not peel off when you sneeze on it like the paint on the hood does.

House of Kolor ftw. I added some green to purple Kameleon to my 50cal. That paint is better imho as an accent or part of a graphic effect tho. It's bad ass for real but It's also $360/pint just so you know.

Any pics of the ski? I'm reading that the color shift pigment comes from a single company that sells it to everyone and that it isn't that special. House of Kolor is an expensive premium brand so you can tell everyone at the hod rod show that you have it and your car is expensive/special.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. For some things the one supplier is true. I bought some flake that everyone swore all comes from the same place then after a few weeks in the sun the red flake was almost silver while the house of Kolor was still red. Maybe buried in a lot of layers of clear it would be ok but I wasn't willing to chance it.
