Possibly taking a job there and was wondering what the ride scene was like. I know Jacksonville is not too far away but I'm talking about a quick trip down the street to play for an hour.

You're thinking of leaving us!?!? Actually, I tried like hell to get a job down in that area a few years ago because I like the St. Simons/Jekyll Island area in general. Every time I've been to Jekyll Island, there have been 3-4 foot waves but I want to say most crash pretty shallow. Also not sure how they would take to jetski's there...

Jacksonville scene would be a hike unfortunately.

I don't want to leave but the Medical Center is about to cut my pay and change my schedule. They already pulled my retirement benefits. If it gets bad enough for me to leave you can expect Gregg will probably go too.

That'll suck some major donkey balls!! Then I'll just be stuck with the rednecks and the random stand up riders that don't want to talk.

don't want to leave either, but in reality it will likely happen in the next year or two...unless they leave us alone at the hospital (not likely). We could all move in your place John! McDog's fam, my fam and you & Violet. It'd be cozy.

I don't know of a good place to launch there to get to the surf. It's mostly lined with condos and home owned property I think. Check out google maps.
Theres a couple of guys that ride that live in Brunswick and St. Simons. Great surf riders but they don't post here. It's only a hour or so to the Jax surf from there... Or Tybee is about an hour north.

I don't know if I can go from walking through my back yard to ride to driving an hour to ride. I might go insane.

It was about 40 minutes from my last house plus the launch fee. There were many days where I wanted to go ride for a little while but because of all the fees involved with launching and driving plus the time it takes to drive and load everything up... It just wasn't worth it.

Granted, it would suck even more to live on the lake, be house broke, and/or work odd hours where you can't ride anyway.

AMEN......to that, buy Mcdog is right. Moving off the lake will suck arse! I could tolerate living near the lake or maybe, across the street from lakefront, but living inland may make me go crazy. Hmmm. Maybe you could help me talk the wife into living out of a fith wheeler on Arrowhead park.

We watched a show on RV's the other night. Some of them are NICE!

I saw a posting on Georgia's boating website that says Tybee, St. Simons, and Jekyll are off limits to motorized boats from the beach to 1000 yards out during the summer. That sucks. I guess it's OK during the winter?

Tobesofkee in Macon... it's right off I-475. There aren't too many big cruisers but during the summer the boats are clustered up so being able to pick which boat you want to jump is nice. Not too clustered to be dangerous though.

Tybee is the only riding spot I know in GA, you launch in the river and ride the outlet. No restrictions there that I know of.

1hr from surf would be awesome. We were driving down from Charleston to Jacksonville on a regular basis but it was getting to be too much driving. I injured my shoulder riding hurricane Bill and haven't ridden since, it's been a nice break but we're ready to start travelling again.

I hear you all on waterfront, I had 2 waterfront houses and I sure miss them now. I may have a chance to relocate next year but I am torn between moving closer to flat water or surf.

Best of both worlds...find a lake that's 1-2 hrs from ocean. Easy living on a lake and no salt worries unless you make the trip for some waves.

me , jjc568, scott aka lurker, corey all drive from right around savannah area to hugo about twice a month other than that we ride tybee and for the winter we just found a new spot on hunting island. i live right across the street from the water and still have to trailer my ski to the ramp the closest ramp is about a mile but there is no surf there and no beach. just a bunch of mud and rocks. it does suck to have to drive to ride, wear yourself out and drive home. hit us up if you move down there we usually go as a big group to ride hugo
