I know it depends on how a person takes care of it of-course but has anyone put many hours on a big bore stroker with out failure?

I know i have put many hours on a 701 with out an issue so just wondering how they compare with longevity?

I put 200 gallons or more on my XS 6mil/860 ADA motor last yr, it was pulled apart just to give it a look over. Motor looked new inside, It was amazing how clean it was. Replaced seals & reassembled by XS. Now its got a new home in Canada.

I heard you gotta be careful on the Machine work on the ADA cylinder. Didn't LPW have a lot of problems with sleeves dropping???

Yes, Paul had a few that dropped. But they were 61X cylinders. Problem with the sleeves being out of round. I am running one of those cylinders. Deck the top, and either cut the dome or run a thicker base gasket.

O nice havn't talked to joe in a while. Wonder what he is running now... :mischievous:

Still got the ADA big bore 933 (7mm). Love it. It's as nasty as ever, but to be 100% completely honest it's too much power for me. This year I am commited to learning how to ride better. For that, I'm building a stock reinforced hull with a worked 701 to ride in the surf. I've been hanging low this past year as I've been distracted with other stuff and helping some friends build their surf skis. Also, I ran most of the season with a loose stator so I was running retarded as can be (literally, both ways lol).

Search big bore or stroker crank.

I have covered this more than once.

To compare relatively a 150-200HP to a 60HP motor, is quite stretch though. I can tell you it is no secret that Yamaha considers engine life to be 1000hrs.

If you are worried about and want "stock" reliabilty(and stock horsepower) stick with stock, you'll be better off.

Whats the general "life-span" of a Big Bore motor? Compared to a stock yamaha 760.
