Anyone See an Odyssey Warp/Melt/Vent

Noticed this before a little afternoon run... Electrical system is new 62T courtesy of jet ski solutions remanufacture, battery is 3 years old would barely turn over my spark a few weeks ago due to winter but I recharged it. Cranks perfectly fine. Looks like an overcharge or a cell out of balance that was overcharged? Could fuel have leaked and caused it? It seems the cover pins the caps down. Is this safe or useable? Thanks!

I would disconnect immediately & send pics to Odyssey to inquire about warranty coverage. Would suck to fry a newly rebuilt elec system for want of a new battery!

Is it possible that the ski overcharged the battery? Seems like a magneto would not be able to do that but I am not overly familiar with electronics. I am sure my 6 amp oreilly auto charger could have, I think it was charging for 2 hours and was at 50% capacity.

Called Odyssey, likely caused by the battery sulfating from overcharging or lack of maintenance charging causing the battery to create heat rather than electricity is what they said...

With JSS electrics in it I’d be looking at your charger - what is it, how old, can be serviced, etc? I’ve seen an older Battery Tender destroy a motorcycle battery a few years ago. Not frequent but chargers do go bad.
Interesting though, keep us posted.

thanks the link! i bought one and they shipped me 2 on accident lol

this battery is the real deal. i put the brand new battery in the night before i rode. sank my ski completely to the bottom of the ocean, drug it up on the beach, flipped it over a couple times, cranked all the water out (huge strain on the battery) and after 20 min got it going again. very impressed considering this is the smaller battery then what im use to (deka etx16)

just thought id leave a review if anyone stumbles on this thread
