Just curious because I know a lot of people who ran these but didn't know how many actually did, back in the 90s when my dad was racing he used to make his own Jetcrafts Unlumited AFMS carbs, I have a photo of someone at havasu with a sticker but didn't know how popular they were, he stopped making them when the racing circuit died down but made me a set for my freestyle 900 over winter, they're like blackjacks but with 3rd jet.

Aren't those SRE carbs? I have a set of 48s I've been trying to sell forever. That little brass spigot in the throat is the third jet. I understood people just took it out and put a set screw in its place to make tuning easier.

The guy who made SRE carbs sold us the design a long time ago, we still have the blue prints and boxes of tops, and I've always just used the 3rd jet, I know a few people that swore the single 44s in these carbs never worked on 61x motors but I'm running one right now with no issues, just have to jet it properly.

I believe my jetting was 120 low, 105 high, and 50 mid, it's reverse jetted to give the bottom more fuel but I would have to open it up and see exactly what's in it

I just picked yo a A.F.M.S. Carb it seems to be a 46mm Mikuni. Just wondering if there is some more background for the carb? Not sure what it has inside i have not opened it up yet. You or your dad used to make them? I wonder if this one i have possibly came from you guys??

My dad bought the design and a stock of tops from the original designer and made them for several years, I don't think he's made any to sell since the early 2000s but he helped me build some 44s for my 850, I know red tops and black jack were a very similar design but didn't have the 3rd jet

Thats cool, This carb doesny look to new. It is a Super BN. What was all modded on the carbs? Is the 3rd jet changeable? Not sure what parts ill need to tune. Besides your post i couldnt find anything about them.

The top bolt pattern is cut off and replaced with a top that has a series of holes around the sides, that and the mid range jet, it dosnt seem like much but it makes a big difference, you'll need a long narrow screwdriver to get the mid range jet out if it's not stuck, I havnt tuned a single 46 but I can't imagine it's too much of a difference from the single 44 I have on my 760

Are the internals all the same? Just the Mikuni tuning parts? Nothing special to look for? Id like to get this tuned back up and saved from the black hole of parts and not lost to history ha. Nice to have a good story to go along with it. When i search for A.F.M.S. it came up as AFMS Carburetor as a sponsor for events. Is that actually your father, or is that the company he had done business with? I couldnt find any history referring to A.F.M.S.
