If they are how do you do it? If not is there any where I can send it to Have them replaced? It is just a MSD power coil (Replaces stock coil) not a total loss system. I have a cracked wire and the other one does not look very good either. It looked to me like the wires are sealed somehow in the coil..... Or is it done with and i just need to buy a new one?

So where the rubber boots are on the coil I just slide the rubber boots up the wire and yank them out of the coil??? I dunno if I feel comfortable with that. I was looking at it and it looks pretty well sealed around the wire (under the boot) where it goes into the coil. I just sent jet ski solutions an email asking if they do MSD coils. They charge $65 to change wires, boots, and terminals. They seal the boots too. A new MSD coil is $95 from blowsion plus shipping. I am not trying to be cheap I just want to do things right. But from what jet ski solutions says on their website some extra saltwater protection might be nice.... Any opinions??????

Just got an email back from Jet Ski Solutions.

"We can only perform this on stock Mitsubishi and other similar coils.
We have tried it on the MSD....not worth the effort. Besides the wires going bad, the MSD coils go bad frequently too.

We have new coils here we can install our wire system on if you don't have one.

Please give us a ring if you need additional info."

The stock replacement RED coils from MSD for Yamahas are junk, do not use them!! They have no POWER (KV-volts)! I spent at least a week on a couple of race limiteds and for the life of me could not get the high speed miss out of the engine, finally changed the coil. (I think I had the spark gap down to .018 before engine started to run way better) Put a brand new Yamaha OEM one in and was able to run the gap back up to .024 and never missed again!
I called the MSD tech line and asked them why their coil was better, and he said 'made from better materials' but not necessarily more KV output!!! JUNK. USE OEM ONLY.

I wonder why they call it a stock improved coil.

Personally I think the wires are junk because the carbon graphite power shakes loose from the filament core on the ends and you have to keep cutting them back shorter.

MSD super conductor wire is anything but junk! I've NEVER seen one fail. Good RFI/EMI protection for ECWI/TL/CDI's too. Even bad strokers/shakers don't give the wires trouble. If there is a problem, either the coil itself is inferior or the wire attachment method at the coil is no good.:veryhappy:
