Are Novi's worth it????

I have tried many carbs, mostly on very unstock engines.

On angry 62t cased twins, I like novi 48 D boosters. They don't pull quite as hard as the "F"'s on the high so you can run a larger big jet and make a smoother transition.

If you have an engine that requires to go rich @ full snot to make some serious power, the "F" booster can pull more fuel off the big jet.

I found that the full spectrums that I tried were transition port intensive to the point that I nearly felt that I was dealing with a round body green. Don't get me wrong, they made nice power but I felt that a set of novi's were very comparable for hp and a schitload easier to setup.

On another note, blackjacks 48 run nice on yamaha's! Just never run them sidedraft!!!!

(and try not to shake them too much!)

Thats what I love about novi's, once you have them tuned, you can just about hit them with a spade, throw rocks at them, piss on them, attach a rabid octopus to the arrestors and they will still run.

There are other carbs that will go completely off song if a cloud goes over the sun.

Regardless of what Aftermarket Carb you choose (Full Specs, Novi, Riva and Blackjack) you will see a performance gain if tuned properly. If you are willing to make the investment in good carbs, you also make investment in a good manifold and reeds too.

I currently running Dual 46 Novis, Boyesen Manifold, Rad Valve Setup on my limited. I was very pleased with the performance gain I recieved over stock.

How do you tell if you have the D or F booster?

If you look at the booster, bombsight, high speed stand etc. it is partially blocked off so the hole in the middle is in the shape of a "D" on a d booster.

F booster has a round hole and a slot behind the fuel orofice.

The new ones hole look like a flower, hippy booster.

I have run Full Spec's, Novi, and now Blackjacks-with that said-I can't hang on to my 5 mil anymore because the Blackjacks literally seperated my right shoulder yesterday!!! If I have a complaint with the Blackjacks, it would be that they hit too hard. lol

I have used Full Specs and Novis on everything from basic limiteds to full 8mil strokers and they both rock. But, as already mentioned, it comes down to who is tuning them for optimal performance. The best carb in the world is only as good as the person tuning on it.
