ATP Flame TS2

Hi Guys,
Been looking at TL for a while now.

I only ride salt so the ATP inside a OEM box seems more suited to me. I know you can get the RRP enclosure or fab up a box for the MSD but I just want it as hassle free as I can get and for ease of setup and cost the ATP is def up there.

Not worried if the flame gives slightly less power than msd etc more if the original issues people were having are sorted.

Ive read through all of the threads on here with stories of smashed bendix, starter, ring gear etc and most seems to be put down to starting timing or bad earth to the stator.

The latest revision has a start retard that they recommend 10 deg retard for big stroker motors.

Has this now cured any issues?

The threads about issues seem to stop a year or so ago so would assume its all good now, just like a bit more positive feed back really.

Struggled with a miss on acceleration and needed richer jetting with TS2, even before coil started going. I think it is more suited to smaller CC engines
Xscream run MSD as they couldn't get skis right with TS2, and Lee Stone runs a special double plug setup, I think that says enough about which is the right choice.
Get MSD in a RRP box, but make sure it is built properly, the one I got from TI leaked a lot, rebuilt it myself and all dry now.

Cheers Guys.

Had heard about the rrp box leaking that put me off the MSD a bit. Was it leaking on the cable grommets? What do you do to make it water tight?

Don't run pickup wires through sleeve, use stock type stator grommet, small multiple holes. Strip shrinkwrap at grommets on power cables. All grommets need snug fitment on wires, not excessively stretched or loose. I used the cheat method on pickup wires, removed sleeve and used silicone. I also had to change from MSD solenoid, somehow with a 24 cell AG battery, it was destroying starters, used a kawi solenoid and works well

Outsiders opinion, never owned either system but from reading up on msd and the atp, setting the timing curve on the msd seems potentially more confusing, for example setting the actual amount of timing retard at max rpm (may have to set final curve point to "off" instead of say 12* at 8000 rev limit).

Atp has had a pretty good record on their t/l reliability. I know riders who swear by that system. Definitely agree it is more suited to smaller cc engine since you are still using just an oem coil not 2 giant high voltage coils. Setting the curve with software is a nice feature but it's also not something I'd want to fumble with on a weekly basis, and flash updates seem like you are going back in time to windows DOS programming days. Also don't like the fact you cant turn the motor over with no spark by pressing both buttons simultaneously, sort of a double edge there as that feature might help save a runaway motor. And I'm not entirely convinced by the whole twin spark concept, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence...finally, it takes maybe a bit longer than you might expect to get the system to "sense engine movement" and start sparking when you crank the engine. That might have something to do with starter/Bendix/bushing wear

Helped my friend just setup a new TS2, he's been running it a few weeks, no problems thus far, easy to install, easy for program.

The ts2 is awesome. The flywheel falls apart with big power, the ebox leaks from factory if you don't grease the seals and silicone the glands yourself, loves to mince your bendix, some times won't connect to the pc and occasionally the cdi just decides to permanently stop. Awesome warranty on all this stuff as well!! (None whatsoever).
P.s this isn't second hand information that I've read on the internet, experienced first hand by yours truely. Totally worth the couple hundred less than the msd
