ATP Total Loss TS2

I am running it with a DASA 1200, awesome. Only ATP TS2 from now on for TL.
Make sure to disconnect power before charging battery or timing could be wonky(If you don't, just leave disconnected for 5min, reconnect and all is good)

Also been running it all year with zero issues. I haven't experienced any timing issues or needing to disconnect anything prior to charge. Did ATP instruct that @CARBONX2? Art programmed the curve for my engine and didn't say anything about it....just curious.

No, found out the hard way, they might not know about the issue. I run an Odyssey battery and use a Ctek smart charger, I think all the fancy pulse/ripple stages affect the TS2.

Ive been running with TPE1105 for months, zero issues. Hadnt heard about chargers sending things wonky ??????? Leave my battery permanently connected to ski , and hooked up to optimate 3 when not in use.

Highly recommend this ignition.

What motor are you running and how's the performance of the TS2 ? Did upgrade from a charging ignition and feel a major difference ?

Jetworks 900r 5 mil stroker, PFP, BJ 46's on pump gas. I never ran a charging system to compare back to back with, the ignition went in brand new with the engine this winter. A local riding buddy had the identical engine in a Rok-r hull with the only difference being he was running MSD TL and a 144 setback pump (mine is non setback). Other than the hulls handling different the power delivery felt identical.

I run mine on a Deka etx9 and get about 6 tanks (2.5 gallon kart tank) to a charge before I start noticing the engine cranking begin to slow down a tiny bit. I rarely make it that long though as I'm worn out after 4 tanks.

^^^^That's kinda what I've been looking for^^^ Next question would be, were you two running similar timing curves? All things being equal is there a noticeable performance advantage of one over the other?

I would imagine so but I couldn't tell you for sure. He sent his brain to Art (I believe) or at least got the switch chart from him for his setup and I purchased my TL through Art so he put the curve on it and sent it with my engine. I would think same engines, pipes, carbs, compression, porting ect. that the curves would be pretty close if not identical (or as close as they can be). I'm just assuming this though. It could be possible that one needed a different adjustment to exhibit the same characteristics as the other or vise versa. I do know even though my TS2 can be set up with the twin spark Art preferred the single hottest spark like the old flame system. He may have since changed his opinion but at the time there wasn't a power increase or enough evidence to justify programming it that way.

My reasoning plain and simple for the flame was to be able to run it in the stock box without having to leave exposed on a plate or build some contraption to keep it protected. I also didn't care for how unreliable the MSD brains are. Regardless of the new TS2 being out or not I was going to run the flame either way. I'm not trying to turn this into a debate between manufacturers but if I had to make the choice again, I wouldn't hesitate to run either the first gen or new TS2.

I've been using the gen1 Flame TL for a couple years (bought it used too!) and it doesn't miss a beat. RELIABLE, powerful, and contained in a relatively cheap box. The oem box fit is a mega bonus.

Just found out there is a flash update for the first few ts2 flames. It has you set the static timing at 40 instead of 50. Heads up.

I had a spark issue the last 2 weeks(worked erratically), eventually traced it back to the programming plug, the white wire pin has to 'wings', one was managing to earth to the black. Broke the 'wings' off and all is good again.

surprised no one has mentioned this thread, where flywheels, starters and bendix where all gettin chewed to bits by the flame?

Is that issue only inherent to the new lightweight flywheel? I'm running the regular flywheel and haven't experienced any issues. I've swapped one bendix out since running the ts2 but because I had water behind the cover and I wasn't going to risk it with the little bit of rust that had started.
