ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS...

At the hospital last night Jason was asleep when I got there but woke up shortly after. It didn't take him long to fully wake up which seems good. A little more talkative.

But still saying odd things. Like when the nurses asked him his name he can answer that correctly. When they ask him do you know where you are he says mobile infirmary or Providence hospital and they correct him. They ask him if he knows what month it is he says June and they correct him. This happens about 3 times a day. So it seems right now he isn't retaining information.

They also asked if he knew why he was in the hospital and he said no. They told him what happened and just said OK.

BUT the good news is he isn't on any IV so he eats regular food. Anything he wants. Well within reason. The only fuel line hooked up to him are just the ones for taking blood samples. And his "drain" tube if u know what I mean.

We joked around with the breathalyzer thing he has to practice with. Probably made him laugh way too much. He looked better last night than he has in the past 2 weeks!!!

No word on getting him onto his own room so we can play video games and listen to the misfits and pantera

Thanks
Rick

Thanks for the updates Rick. I got your voicemail from the other day... sorry I have not returned your call... I'm headed back to DC for a week and it's been pretty crazy.

Thank you for being there for Jason and his mom... much appreciated buddy!

Friday when I saw Jason I took him some ice cream. I woke him up to feed him, he still isn't great at doing that. His girlfriend and i talked about how much better he was looking.

I also took him some ODI bar grips so he could have something to do with his hands and in my mind I was thinking try and to have something familular there.

I was told the Dr's had to put in another stitch where the drainage tube was due to leakage. This is the second time they had to do this.

Other than being kinda playful then drowsy. Not too bad

Ice cream makes ya feel better.

I got a text Saturday morning from his girlfriend fowarded from his mom that read " they are putting the tube back in Jason's head. He's got some water on the brain."
Got to the hospital and talked to the Dr who told me that he's fine for now but in pain. The problem is his body isn't absorbing the protien and fluid like normal. He might have to have a permanent shunt. But we will see.

Went back to see him, man what a difference a few hours makes! He was doing so much better.

If you read my previous post about them having to add the stitch in each day due to the drainage from where the tube was, this is what is going on with the water on the brain deal.

By the way if you're like me and you don't like layman's terms there is no such thing as water on the brain. The brain is surrounded by cerebralspinal fluid, not water. And it's called hydrocephalus.

Not a good weekend

Wanted to give an update on Jason for you guys.

The past week has been crazy he went to a private room for only a day then back to ICU. Stayed there for a few more days then back to a private room. His progress was sorta slow and he seemed kinda weak. But doing his physical therapy makes you tired when you've been layed up for so long

Monday he was finally moved to rotary. And today (Wednesday) he's doing awesome! He's a totally different guy from last week. He's eating better laughing more and talking a lot more.

The physical therapist came by to tell us about what he had done today, and hearing that and that he was still awake and perky was great!

I gave him his phone back, since he's in a private room less chance of getting it taken. So hopefully he'll b chiming in soon!!?

Thanks
Rick

An update for everyone

Jason has been in rotary and doing therapy. Actually quite a few types of therapy sessions and is doing awesome!

He has been given a discharge date of August 11 BUT if he keeps improving at the rate he's going he could run out of the door earlier.

I bought him an iPad so he can he can see what he's doing when he plays clash of clans and other games. And a bad ass Darth Vader bath robe for when he's doing his physical therapy he can terrorize everyone and make them obey lord vomitspot! Haha

He's doing real real good guys

Today's update

Jason text me this morning and told me that his August 11 discharge date is cancelled. He has been doing so awesome in therapy the Dr's have told him to pack his bags and go home this Friday!

I went to see him this afternoon and we talked about it and what to expect. He really just can't wait to get out of there. Which is totally understandable. We talked about going to get a gyro at a place we usually hit up on Saturdays. I can't wait just to get him out and about like we usually do!

It's good to see him laugh and well you know be Jason. Ive missed just talking to him or rather us talking. Just BSing all the time

He's got a long road ahead but he has turned on the gas and blasted everyone's expectations in the past few weeks.

Quick update

Sorry it's been so long. Jason is doing awesome been living with his mom and itching to get out. He's doing his physical therapy and doesn't use his cane anymore.

When I talked to him yesterday he said he was going to go back to work tomorrow. He doesn't know what he'll be doing but he wants to get out of the house and do something.

He's looking great and acting like a champ!
