auto bilge

I used to run an automatic bilge from a seadoo...I personally liked it. My next setup however is going to be a dual 500 rule...one of them being automatic and the other being on a toggle. The seadoo bilge pumps cycle on every 15 seconds and if they sense a resistance they keep pumping.. This is nice because you can leave it "on" but yet it wont be constantly running unless it senses water.

rule makes an automatic pump as well...the float switches work well, we have installed them on numerous boats when i was in florida. the only thing i see with the float switch is usually it has to be elevated up to about 30 degrees for most of them to kick on, and with the mounting hardware you'd be up to about 4 inches of water or so in the hull by the time it kicks on, depends on the height of the hardware for each different model.

here's the rule http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=34063&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=10111&subdeptNum=10623&classNum=10624....only problem is the long duration for the cycle time...and west marine is usually over priced...i'd suggest you run down to panama city and hit up panama marine when you get home...they always seemed to be better priced on everything

You can either pay the high price for a NEW rule automatic...

Or get one out of a Seadoo GSX Limited or XP Limited. They came stock with those.

ya, also i was looking at the electronic sensor. it doesn't have a float. and doesn't get fooled by splashing water or bouncing around.

my dad has an old seadoo xp sitting in the back yard. i might just be in luck

good to know

The reason I pointed that out...is because if you watch ebay you will see the automatic bilge pumps just simply listed as a seadoo gsx limited bilge pump or XP Limited bilge pump...they usually go cheap.

I really liked mine in my old superjet.

I use 2 Rule 500's and a float switch. I have a rotary dashboard switch with three positions, wired up as auto-off-on. Best of all worlds - I just flip it to the best setting for what I'm doing.

Is there some reason you don't want to just leave it on the whole time you ride? Seems pretty automatic to me.

a rule 500 will airbind if run all the time....a 360 will not, and can be run all the time.....

the 500's are great pumps, but work better in automatic style or manual switch style....

the pumps have sealed bearings..they can be run dry no problem....sometimes I run mine ALLLL day long at the beach..

I once left my twin rule 500's on for like 5 hours and it was fine. Also, I ran a float switch for about an hour a few years ago. It didn't take long for the plastic thing to explode. Plus it needs a lot of room to float up and you will have to have several inches of water in before it turns on.

What years of GSX Limited had auto bilges? I owned a 98 and it didn't have one, just the standard siphon bilge. I thought it was just the XP's?

That's what I do, and I run total loss. I still get a full day of riding in without trouble. I've been using the same pumps for two years now, so they last just fine.
