300 naut. miles range, and max of like 450lbs payload including occupants? You definitely wouldn't be taking any trips in it, just 'fun flying' really.

Neat idea. With this sport pilots license they're pushing, you can't fly in congested air space. So pond landing is perfect when you can't use an airport! I think weight regulations are relaxed for water-landing aircraft as well.

No. Thats pretty sweet. But chutes only function over 250-300 feet, right? Anything else and you are dead.
