B pipe chamber with other headpipes

Will this type of head pipe work with a B pipe chamber?
Nope. The Pro-Tec headpipe has too tight of a bend and it would put the FP chamber is a wrong spot. The FP chamber mouth is actually slightly angled and the FP headpipe is pointing 5 or 7 degrees to the left.

isnt the head pipe the reason why they are so good
The chamber is what makes all 2-strokes. This is where all the science is...the items before and after the chamber are nickel and dime as far as gains/loss go.

True. But in the more specific world of watercraft two-strokes, good water injection can make a chamber shine (making it variable length chamber).
That's where the B-headpipe fits in.

i always thought it was the water control on the head pipe. seeing i can run about 6 different chambers on my ski and see no real power difference.

right

BUT, most folks run the screws in a similar fashion, and the instructions say you cant run them all closed, so somewhere in between there, is likely where most other pipe manufactures unadjustable water flow exists.

Id like to know what 6 chambers, and ] your peak RPM, engine setup , pump/impeller specs.

Most folks notice a large difference from one pipe to the next.

The only thing on the FP head pipe that makes it "unique" are the 3 adjustable H2O screws. Most other wet pipes already have the water point(s) pre-set at factory for its application and inject the water fairly well for general use. The FP just lets you fine tune or dial-in for your specific setup. No amount of water tweaking in the world will provide the same effect as a good chamber design! Water injection isn't the miracle cure for a poor chamber, it is only the icing on the cake.

Matt, I know you know all this, I just didn't want someone not knowing thinking that H2O is the main thing to these Factory B-Pipes.

Gotcha.
Honestly, the B-Pipes aren't the absolute best for Power (in my experience).
But the overall package is simply great - power, adjustability, simplicity, and reliability

Without more pics., just working off memory. I believe the Protec uses a jumper waterline from headpipe to chamber right? If this is the case you would have no water in the b-pipe chamber as there ar no where to jump water from the Protec headpipe. Even if it would physically fit, you would have to drill holes on inside of the headpipe and find a way to regulate it (like the B-pipe) to get water to the chamber.

Ok, so what headpipes WILL work with the factory pipes?

I know a coffman manifold will work with a factory HEADPIPE.

but what other combs will work?

I dont want to spend $250 on a headpipe.

What about the Coffman headpipe? It looks similar. But I think the coupler area is different.

You could put some restictors or jets in the fittings on the Coffman headpipe to regulate water like the Factory headpipe. I never tried it on mine before I sold it, but it should work.

Did I get that from you? I can't keep track. :dunno:

I don't think it would fit.

Yep. I don't think the factory chamber would fit either. I think it's bigger around the coupler. You can restrict the water going in the Coffman headpipe to tune it. I never tried it on my 701 though. I tried a few different setups when I had it on the 650.
