5 weeks to be all finished is what the casting company is telling me
Wax about the oring backwards compatible thing if you only grooved the manifold and not the j pipe would you have to change the design of the manifold gasket surface ? If you didn’t the manifold would basically be kind of an upgrade to oring and would still work on existing j pipes wouldn’t it ?

You are right and I like your thinking. Im going to look into this and it would be a great upgrade
I thought about making a manual hand spinning groove cutter for the bpipe manifold like they have for doing orings on engine blocks while in the vehicle but never really looked into how much it would take and cost vs just going to a machinist , but since your doing a new cast might be worth while to look into it now !

The only issue is with the o-ring you limit the amount someone can bore it because the ring groove and sealing surface could get pretty thin. A gasket is pretty easy.

This is not a good application for an O-ring mod. A lot of material would need to be added to the mating surface and it would need to be machined flat. It may be worth it considering how jetskiers seem to think O-rings are cool.

Yeah that won't happen until people decide to quit paying the artificially inflated prices and the gougers stop selling parts will the pricing come down.
