You don't need earplugs if you run a waterbox. It is loud, still. And annoying as hell.

Definetely not too loud, especially if you run a oem WB.

What options exist to lower the noise? I like on a small lake on weekends and the neighbors will freak. Stock water box. Anyone use sound dampening to lower noise levels?

I don't find it loud, i'm using the stock waterbox.

I didn't find it too much louder than stock. The exhaust note got deeper I found, much better exhaust note IMO anyway. Don't worry about the volume change, it won't cause you any problems as long as you keep your water box installed.

how your head pipe and stinger is set up makes a big difference on noise level. open up the top screw a full turn or maybe even more and dont run a flow control valve. your performance will suffer a little but noise level sounds more important to you.

You can't please everybody but why not try to keep the noise down if it keeps the neighbors from bugging you? It is not worth the hassle of dealing with them.
