B1 rear deck access hole ?

It is very common for the B1 to separate at the rear bond line. The access hole most people cut for this repair is pretty standard. The separation happens, in my opinion, because of a design flaw in the rear bond rail. This should no longer be an issue after a proper repair job. Typically the hole in the top deck is just glassed closed.

My question is if anyone has ever, in lieu of glassing it closed, has ever bolted on a piece (similar to what was cut out but remade larger) to seal the hole so the back end can be accessed again later. The reason for this would be to maintain access for a later exhaust upgrade.

Thoughts, experiences?

That would have been nice to have when I installed a rear exit exhaust. Five extensions and hours later and it was done though. When I was researching for the rear exhaust I read somewhere that the rear is a weak point of the Blasters. I would imagine another hole would compound the weakness. Other than a rear exhaust, what would you need access to?

I believe the problem is historically the bond of the deck in the back, not the decks themselves failing. It is a poor design. The rail doesn't make contact like it does on other places of the boat. It has a rubber seal, in inadequate amount of bonding agent and a substantial gap. I also believe that the angle of the rear bond line causes a torsion when towing another ski.

The only thing I can imagine needing access for is to upgrade the exhaust. My repair is stronger than the hull.

Sorry not searching pwct but @ChadGnarly did a 1100 mod hull build years ago and I think installed the battery back there

A friend of mind did exactly that his thoughts were it be nice for maintenance and a extra storage spot. It was nothing but a leaking nightmare the amount of slamming and shock loads these hulls take its impossible to stay sealed up.
